Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen’s Club Gets Much Bigger

0

LAS VEGAS, March 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — The world famous Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas gentleman’s club is proud to announce the groundbreaking for expansion of the club at 3340 S. Highland Drive in Las Vegas, NV. The extension will add an additional 17,000 square feet to the existing club, which will provide an additional main stage and wider entertainment areas.

Voted The Best Gentlemen’s Club in the World, Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas continues to set the standard for strip club entertainment in Sin City. Featuring the hottest entertainers in Las Vegas, the Rhino offers a wide variety of services and packages for all occasions from bachelor parties to VIP events.  Complimentary limousine service is standard, which sets the tone for the ultimate Vegas VIP experience.

“Spearmint Rhino is getting bigger and we couldn’t be more excited!” says, Kevin Kelly, owner of the club. “The Rhino offers guests select and personalized experience with the very best in local food and drink choices, and unmatched entertainment. And the best part is that we are open seven days a week – every day of the year!”

RSA architects, the designers for the project, sought a design solution that raised the bar for elegance and sophistication by using an intentional departure from the themed facades that is seen in nearly all of these project types. RSA is based in Henderson NV.

“Instead, we developed a response that acknowledges the domestic and internationally-known brand name of Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas,” says Randy Spitzmesser, AIA, principal of Rasa.

“The design speaks to that strong familiarity by using bold elements and time-tested materials that are configured to resonate as an exclusive destination.”

A new marketing campaign will accompany the upgrade.  The theme is “We’re getting a little work done,” and will be featured in advertisements, social media and other marketing materials.

“We are very excited to let the world know about this expansion and I can’t wait to watch its progress!” says Director of Marketing Michelle DiBenedetto. “We view this as a way of giving our customers a new way to experience the Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas.”

The Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas gentleman’s club is open under normal business hours during the construction.

Burning Man Styled Alien Theme Park Coming to Las Vegas?

0

A group of investors have announced that they want to create a new theme park in Las Vegas that will take the “best parts of Burning Man” and combine it with a space age Mars Adventure. “Mars World” as it’s being called by the designer John Spencer.

According to Spencer, the fully immersive experience will be on land somewhere between the I-15 Freeway and Las Vegas Boulevard. People will be able to dress up in space gear, take full walks on a low gravity ride, and even ride a tram into a crater where Mars City will be built.

Spencer isn’t a newbie, since some of his architecture work was included in the International Space Station and Japan’s already successful Space World theme park. He also was the designer for the Aquarius underwater laboratory used by astronauts during NEEMO (NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations) missions.

The experience is mainly targeted to over adults. “They’re pretty rowdy, independent, artistic. Don’t agree with authority too much. At Burning Man, clothing is optional,” Spencer said. “If you take that as a foundation and extend that out further in the controlled environment, then we have amazing characters, artwork and costumes.”

The project is estimated to cost over $2 billion and would take several years to develop according to Spencer. However, they have only raised $500k to date, meaning that we might be traveling to Mars before this actually launched.

Vegas Local’s Favorite Sushi Places May Surprise You

1

Sushi is one of those things that you either love or hate. I personally haven’t met that many people who think sushi is just “OK.” They either think it’s the best thing in the world and salivate whenever they see good photo, or they can’t plain can’t understand what the big fuss is about eating raw fish –and often make gagging sounds when I mention sushi.

Personally, I love sushi, it’s one of my favorite cuisines that I’ve enjoyed for years… especially with late night sake and a nicely drunk stripper named Skyler.

We asked well known locals in the food, service, fitness and public relations community what their favorite sushi places was. We got a nice mix of different restaurants from all over the Valley to try. Interesting enough, none of the selections were on the strip, partially because of price, but also because people preferred the personal relationships and customer service they got from smaller places.

If you have your own personal places, feel free to comment below. We’d love your opinion of what you think is best and why.

Yummy Grill and Sushi 7331 W Lake Mead Blvd in Las Vegas
Chef Eric and his staff are very welcoming and accommodating and everything is incredibly fresh. So fresh in fact, that on one of our trips Chef Eric whipped out his phone to show us the videos he shot at the fish market that morning of the still living fish. You can get live sweet shrimp, abalone, uni (all when in season and available) and so much more, in addition to the standard offerings you would expect at any sushi bar. I had my very first experiences with live abalone and uni here and they were fantastic and pristine. The staff is friendly and the service is quick whether you are sitting at the bar or at one of the very few tables. I happen to be allergic to something in surimi (artificial crab) and they will make any of their offerings without it upon request. I love the crazy names for the different rolls like Dante’s Inferno, Kiss of Fire and Dancing Eel.

Order the Omakase and truly “entrust” Chef Nakano. The fixed price paves the way to the nights selection of the very best and authentic dishes. This little sushi joint by the former head chef of Nobu (at the Hard Rock), Hiromi Nakano is totally unassuming with all the perks of a major strip property restaurant tasting menu. For starters, Calamari with Jalapeno Salt is still a must and fresh water eel topped with kiwi and mango refreshing.

Izakaya Go 3775 Spring Mountain Rd, Suite 301 in Las Vegas
When I was working on the strip, Go was my wholesale fish purveyor. Naturally, he has access to some of the best fish in the entire city. Recently, he’s been offering a variety of fish that you can purchase whole at his restaurant and he’ll do sashimi from it. Then ask to have the fish bones cooked in Miso soup!

My my #1 choice for sushi is Osaka’s. The atmosphere is quiet, intimate and authentic. The pride in their food & service is obvious and appreciated. Osaka was the first Japanese restaurant in Las Vegas & now run by it’s second generation of the Nakanishi family. My favorite sushi is the 911 roll. Osaka has been voted Best in Las Vegas multiple times, and stands alone as the only Japanese restaurant outside of Japan to be listed as one of the top 50 Japanese restaurants by Asahi Shukan, the largest weekly magazine in Japan.

Sushi-Ko 7101 W. Craig Road in Las Vegas
Sushi-Ko in Craig Market Place is affordable with fast & friendly service. You can sit in an intimate table for two or with a group of friends at a teppan table , which can be great for celebrations. While dining there I enjoy The House Salad and Mahi Mahi. For sushi I prefer The Hot & Sexy roll and The Marilyn-Mon Roll. It’s off the strip and a great local hang out. Avoid the heavier peak times if you don’t want to wait in line

al-manciniAl Mancini, Food Columnist @ VegasSeven
Yui Edomae Sushi 3460 Arville St in Las Vegas
Sushi Chef Gen Mizoguchi made a name for himself in Las Vegas by offering some of the finest raw fish this side of the Pacific at the foodie hotspot Kabuto. After leaving there, he opened his own place, Yui. The 22-seater offers the same types of seasonal fish as his last locale, many of which you’ve probably never tried before, flown in daily from Japan. Mizoguchi-san and his apprentices deftly cut it with the precision of a top surgeon and offer it in minimalist preparations. None of this comes cheap. The menu offers only two options: a five-course nigiri meal or a $120 eight-course omakase dinner. So if you’re looking for some inexpensive bastardized American “crazy rolls,” this will almost certainly be a waste of your money. If, however, you salivate when watching the film Jiro Dreams of Sushi, this may be the best meal you eat all year.

Mandalay Bay Welcomes Chef Shawn McClain and Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim

0

Construction is in full gear for the new Shawn McClain restaurant at Mandalay Bay. The James Beard Award-Winning Chef is changing things up with this new social-based restaurant in Mandalay Bay that will “challenge diners to free their minds…” about all sorts of things bar and food.

Calling itself a “gastropub” the restaurant will feature a cocktail program by infamous Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim.

“When I think about the best times in life, they usually center around sharing good meals with friends so I look at eating as the ultimate social activity, said McClain. “With we wanted to create a dynamic experience that celebrates the connections and memories made while sharing in the pleasure of delicious food and excellent drinks. It’s our vision to excite our guests by being both familiar and bold, comfortable and cutting edge with this concept. Libertine Social invites guests to define their experiences on their own terms, whether it’s stopping in for a quick drink solo or coming in for a special occasion with a large group, and everything in between. As with Sage and Five50, this concept is progressive and a little provocative, which I believe is a meaningful addition for Mandalay Bay and the Las Vegas dining scene as a whole.”

Mandalay President Chuck Bowling is excited about this new restaurant:

Shawn McClain is a master at creating welcoming concepts with a sense of sophistication and I’m certain Libertine Social will be a place where everyone will be able to relax, celebrate or host a business meeting while enjoying impeccable food and drinks

Xania Woodman of VegasSeven describes Abou-Ganim as a “champion of fresh ingredients, Las Vegas-based Abou-Ganim kicked off the city’s cocktail renaissance in 1998 when he opened the Bellagio as the resort’s first property mixologist with an all-fresh cocktail program. He is the author of two cocktail books, founder of the Helen David Relief Fund for bartenders affected by cancer and creator of a line of professional barware.”

Johnny Manziel Back in Vegas Partying

0

Not terribly good news for Johnny Manziel who can’t seem to keep himself out of Las Vegas. Despite hiring agent Drew Rosenhaus to get more teams interested in him, he seems to be doing everything possible to show he isn’t interested in actually taking it seriously, if a photo from Celebrity Chef Mario Batali says anything.

Yes, according to a photo posted on Instagram Saturday Night / Early Sunday Morning, Batali was out partying with Manziel in Las Vegas early into the night. The photo posted in a Las Vegas club shows Batali with Manziel, where Manziel says “turns out Johnny Manziel is pretty pretty cool! and his mgmt!!”

manziel-vegasConsidering that many teams have said they MIGHT be interested in Manziel if he sobers up, this isn’t good timing for the former NFL player. If he ever wants to get back playing, he needs to take this a lot more seriously and pretend that he actually wants to have a career.

This comes less than a month when he was heavily criticized for being in Vegas and heavily drinking.

Many Batali fans on his Instagram didn’t take kindly to him posting photos with Manziel:

  • tigalleyUgh, really Mario? This guy is a shithead who hits his girlfriends… Can’t believe you posted this. I’m a big fan, but you really need to think a bit before you post garbage like this….
  • elliemaymoNo, I disagree, Mario. He’s an embarrassment to Texas and definitely not cool. Nope.
  • osgirl34Chef, please do not promote domestic violence. That is what you are doing by giving this idiot the time of day.

Of course, Batali wasn’t making any statements about that, just hanging out in a club with someone who probably was a fan. Batali is considered a “good buy” amongst chefs and has shown his support for both LGBTG rights and women rights both in the workplace, kitchen and in life.

Firefighters Criticize Caesars For Poor Fire Plan

0

On March 21st, a blaze was reported at 3:30 am in Caesars Palace. The escalator fire sent smoke all over the casino, with over 140 rooms evacuated. Smoke spread everywhere, according to the Clark County Fire Department, causing even the convention center to be evacuated immediately.

While no one was hurt, three employees were sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation and later released.

However, according to guests and even the Clark County Fire Department, there is no plan or procedure in place done with the Fire Department on how to communicate with all the guests. One guest commented to the media that there were no announcements made on what guests in other towers should do, causing concern.

According to TravelWeek, the fire only caused $100,000 in damages

AP Article on FireNation, entitled “Emergency Communication Questioned after Caesar’s Palace Fire” claimed

Emergency crews don’t have the manpower to alert every person in a partially evacuated building if they are not already affected, and doing so could cause unnecessary panic, Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said. There also is no specific guidance or standard procedure on how property owners should communicate with unaffected guests, he said.

The cause of fire still has not been released.
