Resorts World Construction Stopped Says Motley Fool

0

Financial Journal Motley Fool has issued a very stark warning about Resorts World Las Vegas, claiming that construction “seems to have halted.”  This notice was published explaining that Resorts World, if ever actually built, could be a huge issue for established resorts financially, if it ever gets off the ground. However, their failure to start building, while the Chinese economy is getting worse, may be a huge damper on their future.

Motley Fool Reports that

But the company has been eerily silent, with no recent news or website postings since May 2015’s post about the groundbreaking. The Resorts World Las Vegas Facebook page has only 1,500 likes and hasn’t been updated in six months. I tried contacting Resorts World as well as the contracted construction company, to no avail.

However, some good news: Resorts World general counsel Gerald Gardner told Nevada gaming regulators this week the $4 billion Resorts World Las Vegas project will begin full-scale construction sometime in the last three months of this year.

Appearing before the Nevada Gaming Control Board almost exactly a year after the project held its ceremonial groundbreaking, Gardner said construction would get underway in earnest in the fourth quarter, with site activity starting to ramp up this summer.

Gardner attributed the delay to ongoing work on a “complex design.” He said struggles in the Chinese economy and with Malaysian currency had also affected the timeline.

Resorts World is expected to create about 5,000 direct construction jobs and will have about 2,500 full-time employees. Plans for the debut of Resorts World include a hotel tower with more than 3,000 rooms, a 150,000-square-foot casino and other amenities.

However, not such good news from the Alon Project, which may be completely shut down if no new investors are interested in the near future.

(Photos) Channing Tatum Bringing Magic Mike Live to Las Vegas

Channing Tatum, the actor who makes moms hot everywhere, has announced that he plans to bring Magic Mike to Las Vegas for a unique risqué and sexy life show.

Billed at a live male strip review with hungry young men looking to shed their close, this unclothed variety show will be directed by the 36 year old actor, Tatum. The review will be completely based on the two movies, “Magic Mike” and “Magic Mike XXL”

Tatum starred as the title character in the films and is a former stripper himself, but he says he won’t be taking the stage for the live show according to one source. Alison Faulk did choreography for the movies and will also choreograph the live act.

“We want to change what male entertainment has been for years. For 40, 50 years, it hasn’t changed, and we want to make it better,” the hunky Tatum said. “We got to do some different stuff and have some fun in different ways and make it more of a conversation instead of just men going up there and trying to tell you what you should think is sexy. We really want to hear from you.”

“It should be woman-empowering instead of just about the guys getting naked,” the Magic Mike XXL star continued

Well, Tatum said that he might, despite press mentions of the opposite, actually show up and perform.

“If I’m ever in shape enough to actually do the show again, I will absolutely step on stage, just because it’s fun,” he said. “I’m sure there’ll be a lot of crazy cameos.”

“Magic Mike Live Las Vegas” is scheduled to begin previews at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in March 2017.

They have already created a website for the show.

Five Most Disgusting Restaurants in Las Vegas

donaldbarfDonald Trump’s DJT
While it’s not the worst Hotel Restaurants on Yelp, it is one of the worst. The Donald’s DJT steakhouse was shut down in 2012 for some of the nastiest health violations, including 5 month old rotten duck being served to guests. Ignoring the fact that the restaurant had non-working freezer with food in it, we are amazed that the restaurant is even running, considering Donald’s hatred of Mexicans. As Anthony Bordain put it, every restaurant would shut down if we started deporting Mexicans. For some reason, making Steak Great Again, isn’t the Donald’s Motto.

Firefly Tapas Kitchen
Despite warnings for years that this restaurant was disgusting, hundreds of people got deathly ill thanks to what seemed to be absolutely no procedures to keep anything clean. Only a year later, another one of their locations was cited for also failing to follow basic sanitary conditions. Vegas Eater attacked the restaurant for months, forcing them to close down, making people wonder where they could get crunchy cockroach bits.  There’s no indication that their other restaurant, Tacos and Beer contains any “extra” ingredients.

Dick’s Last Resort
Perhaps the worst food, and purposely worst customer service comes from Dick’s Last Resort, where the waitresses purposely treat you like shit. Yes, the shtick of the restaurant is supposed to be rude, and sarcastic, but in more than a few cases, customers were berated with racists comments, including one who said that the customer had more “Mexicans inside of me than a Hope Depot Parking Lot.” Another gay customer was told that “You’re not worth the AIDS.”

oCarlos’ n Charlie’s
This might be the only Mexican-ish restaurant in Vegas that is proud of being so horrible and disgusting. There is a sign in the front that warns all customers to lower their standards. There were at least half a dozen reviews on Yelp that asks if they could give it 0 stars. I call it Mexican-ish, because the only thing about the restaurant that is authentically Mexican is the name Carlos. Pretty much everything is fake Mexican, and the worst: enchiladas covered with pizza sauce, cold soggy and hard nachos, and in one case, servers refusing to serve people. VegasTripping had a really on-point review with real photos that show how absolutely nasty the food is. Quote: “This is the most digusting thing I have ever eaten in Vegas. Ever.”

Heart Attack Grill
There is absolutely nothing whatsoever good about this restaurant food wise, and you’re more likely to die of some weird disease in my opinion, than actually of the food. They pretty much soak everything in grease as long as possible and hope that you don’t notice that the service sucks. Additionally, the restaurant seems notoriously unclean with reviews noticing their their bathrooms were disguisting. Even worse is the insistence of the staff that you dress in their weird gowns. As one reviewer put it, “This place is so bad, in every way, that it actually ruined an otherwise fun night out for me and some friends. The food is just plain nasty, and the slimy owner will, seriously, throw you out if you don’t want to wear the patient costume. Got that? You’re REQUIRED to wear a patient smock while you eat or be thrown out.”

Tourist Gives Golden Showers to Vegas Visitors from Zipline

0

The important question I’ve always wondered about the Slotzilla Zipline, is if they have any safety measures to prevent people from spitting or dropping coins on people.

Never in my life did I expect that it would be a 15-year old boy spraying urine on everyone below.

The award for the grossest Vegas quote may very well go to a guy who was unfortunately underneath and got a free golden shower.
“Like a lot of liquid coming from above us, just showering from head to toe — our back and top of the head dripping down, and we thought it was some sort of water, maybe some drinks or beer,” tourist Cazimere Ferguson told KVVU.

It wasn’t revealed if this was a prank, or the teenager was so scared that he just started urinating. Either way, I am sure he will remember this visit.

FOX5 Vegas – KVVU
…….

7:48pm “Jake Wagner” confirms that it was not a prank and he purposely urinated on tourists. No word if this is his career goal.

Vegas Mags: Whose is Bigger? LVWeekly vs. VegasSeven vs. VegasEater

Las Vegas companies sometimes seem to be lost on social media. Despite it being mature, Facebook being around for over a decade and even your grandmother messaging you about your inappropriate comments, lots of companies in public relations and marketing aren’t even aware of how to use social media and what the reach is. Unfortunately this leads to even the most seasoned professional getting a poor idea of what is available to buy media with, what companies to work with, and where to push stories.

We’ve done some of the heavy leg work for you, and decided to take a quick look at the social media reach of three companies and what they are doing. We added some other sites including the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and my own page, Las Vegas in Fabulous. Here’s some basics of what we found based on the stats for the companies in the past week, on Facebook alone.

Chart 1: Comparison of Major Vegas Sites. Source: Facebook
Chart 1: Comparison of Major Vegas Sites. Source: Facebook

Las Vegas Weekly has the top amount of likes, but their engagement is very low compared to the rest of the sites. The Las Vegas Review Journal is definitely the King of Local engagement, with posts regularly getting thousands of shares locally. As the top influencer in Vegas, nothing comes close to the LVRJ in engagement and reach. They are the company to look at for content marketing, and see how they do it, and you’ll learn how you should do it.

Las Vegas Weekly has done a decent job of engagement, but they still don’t compare to the amazing reach and engagement of the LVRJ which knows it’s audience perfectly.

VegasSeven has done an “OK” job of reaching people, but their shares are usually limited to under 50 an article. They still generate good traffic to their articles via social media, but it could be a lot better with a good social media team. We analyzed their traffic a bit a few weeks ago and found their search game is rocking with the biggest source of traffic coming from Google. They really need to hire a social media expert to show how to get engagement and grow their company and brand (I know someone)

Eater Las Vegas rounds out the bottom with only 11.6K likes and an extremely limited reach weekly of less than 1000 people a week. This is probably because they don’t have a local social media team and expect the “editors” of each site to do their own social media. Too bad, because there is always good content on this site that is barely shared. It’s a shame because there is always good, well written unique content on the site, which needs more social media reach.

Yes, my own project has amazing engagement, but that’s because I have a team of social media experts and myself who work on these and other clients accounts, analyzing the data, and knowing our audiences. It’s KEY to having good social media reach and helping your advertisers and your own personal brand.

Sushisamba wins Bidding War in Venetian, Aquanox On Way Out

0

When SUSHISAMBA opened in the Palazzo in 2008, taking one of the most difficult locations in the far corner of the casino, many people said the restaurant would fail. Soon after their Chef and chief designer of their award winning menu, Jose Mendin left to open his own South Florida Restaurant group – making more people weary the company would survive at all.  However, eight years later, Sushi Samba is one of the biggest and most loved sushi places in Las Vegas – and they have set their sights on taking over another, albeit much more expensive spot.

After an expensive bidding war that pegged SUSHISAMBA, 50eggs (Owners of Yardbird) and Tao Group against each other, the other two dropped out saying it was too expensive to be profitable. SUSHISAMBA which has a long history of turning difficult and expensive and crazy locations into money makers, decided they wanted the space more.

Sushi Samba will be opening the Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill in what was formerly the V Var space in what is called “restaurant” row in Venetian Palazzo.

It will be right across from Aquanox, another seafood restaurant that is known for its raw bar, creating serious competition.

Chef Timon Balloo, will be the head Chef of Sugarcane, bringing his unique mix of Asian, Euripean and Latin flavors to Las Vegas.

Vegas Weekly raved about the sugar cane concept:

Michael Durovsik, Akbar Jumani, Herb Wilson, and Sarah Liss
Michael Durovsik, Akbar Jumani, Herb Wilson, and Sarah Liss

….the energy of Sugarcane pulsates through the room like you’re in a hot club. But unlike at lots of restaurants that blend in nightlife, the food is the star here. Expect lots of pretty people in Vegas eating Brussels sprouts with orange and sweet soy. Don’t be surprised to see adventurous steakhouse regulars trying kimchee beef tartare and Korean BBQ short ribs or oxtail and sweetbreads before balling out with large-format meats. Maybe there will be lamb with harissa or za’atar, because Balloo is into Middle Eastern flavors at the moment.

With Sugarcane competing with Aquanox which opened in 2006, several sources in the restaurant industry on restaurant row told me that Aquanox is looking to close down to make way for a new restaurant, and it’s only “inevitable” that they will close within the next year. What makes this even more interesting is that one of geniuses behind this move is the Director of Operations in the United States, Michael Durovsik, one of the original management members of the Aquanox team who has made his name turning Sushisamba into one of the gems of the restaurant industry in Las Vegas.

Kardashians To Do Live Variety Show At Mirage?

0

The Kardashians, looking to raise some quick cash, have decided that there is almost nothing they won’t do to get money. According to sources, the Kardashians are close to “financial” ruin because of all the lawsuits and were reaching out to producers in Las Vegas to see if anyone wants to do a special Kardashian Show. It seems that the Mirage took their call and is looking to add them to their list of performers.

“It would be like a live version of their reality show but also a talk show with special musical guests,” a source told In Touch of the Mirage Hotel & Casino residency called Kardashians Live.

The show is rumored to be a variety show where the Kardashians act out being at home, invite both music and other entrainment guests and pretty much yell at each other and cause drama on stage.
It would be like a live version of their reality show but also a talk show with special musical guests,” a source says. “Kris thinks fans will gladly fork over $50 per ticket for a live experience with her famously dysfunctional family.”

Will you go to watch them?

Vegas Water Company Accused of Indoctrinating Workers into Scientology

0

A local Las Vegas woman has filed a real honest to God Federal Lawsuit against Real Water Brand and AffinityLifestyles.com Inc, owned by Nevada Assemblyman Brent Jones, for attempting to indoctrinate her into the Scientology Cult. According to the lawsuit, she and other employees were forced to watch scientology videos as soon as they joined the company.

Jones, who has refused to comment on this Lawsuit, saying they have not been served yet, is accused of forcing employees to sit through courses which included “self-betterment courses, which included books, videos and paperwork,” about the scientology religion.

Grecia Echevarria-Hernandez, 27, says she was hired as a “brand ambassador” for the company last March, but could only get raises in the company if she participated in scientology-based courses. Every course they watched, they were given a 25 cents raise and all the water they could drink.

As a practicing Catholic, Echevarria-Hernandez felt that the videos violated her religious freedom, and refused to watch the videos. As a result co-workers made it an increasing hostile environment, pressuring her to watch the videos as part of their company indoctrination.

After complaining about the videos, she was told that she was not performing her job duties and was immediately fired. The lawsuit claims that she was purely fired because she was catholic and refused to participate in religious activities against her beliefs.

Brent Jones and Affinitylifestyles.com is accused of unlawful employment practice, intentional and religious discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination. Echevarria-Hernandez is seeking damages for her financial losses, and for emotional pain and suffering caused by the alleged wrongful termination, as well as punitive damages and attorney’s fees.

DrinkRealWater claims to be the only water that “utilizes the proprietary E2 Technology™, making it the only drinking water on the market that can maintain a stable negative (-) ionization. Since Real Water is alkaline with an 8.0 pH and negative ionized, it can help the body to restore balance.”

Jones spoke to the crowd outlining where he and Trump were aligned on issues such as ending Common Core and repealing Obamacare. Jones is also a businessman in Las Vegas and owns the Company, Real Water. Jones said “Take a look at our National debt right now, we need someone who truly understands real business and economics” In his speech he acknowledged he had read the “Art of the Deal’ and suggested to the crowd that if they had not read the book, they should.

Jones is an assemblymen in Nevada, and recently became nationally famous after endorsing Donald Trump. He told the LVRJ that his priorities for Nevada were: “Creating a budget that is balanced without raising taxes. Using less taxation and regulations to make a Nevada a business friendly atmosphere. Tesla is a great example, and proves, that when we reduce both taxes and regulations businesses will come to Nevada. These same principles must be extended to all Nevada businesses. Job creation will result when businesses are free to grow and hire Nevadans.”

Jewel Nightclub will be Perfect for Aria

0

Jewel_Nightclub.0.0After buying Light Group, Hakkasan was stuck with an interesting choice of what to do with the Haze location in Aria. While one of the most interesting nightclubs in Vegas, with a beautiful design and amazing staff, it never really gained traction, partially because of the uncertainty about Aria and the entire City Center project for many years. However, with new restaurants, the future of Aria looking amazing with the addition of several new awesome restaurants, Jewel fits perfectly into the new vision.

Set to open in May, Jewel Las Vegas is going to be 24,000 feet of excellence, able to make almost 2,000 guests happy at once. While it’s not anywhere the size of the other Hakkasan clubs in Vegas, it’s definitely going to be a “jewel” in their vegas empire and for Aria. It’s going to be in direct competition with Wynn’s intrigue, as an “intimate, elegant feel” that is focused on VIP service over having large crowd take over the club.

Susan Stapleton of Eater Las Vegas described the VIP experience perfectly as such:

A staircase with LED screens leads guests to the mezzanine level with its own bar, dance floor and five themed VIP skybox suites dubbed The Blind Tiger, The Studio, The G.O.A.T., The Prestige and The Gallery. Each has its own entrance.

The Blind Tiger is designed like a speakeasy with a secret doorway disguised as an armoire leading to a space filled with dark wood walls. The Studio features velvet-lined walls, vintage album covers and an artist-commissioned mural.

The décor will be a perfect match to Aria, both modern, luxurious and super sexy. Unlike the younger crowds in Cosmopolitan, the Aria is focused on more affluent people who aren’t necessarily looking to be seen or have their photos taken and put all over the internet. Aria has created this extremely high class feel with the addition of several restaurants including Herringbone and Bardot.

Bryan Ogden’s New Boca Park Restaurant will Feature Famous DJs

0

Having already registered the domain Mixx.us, and setup a Facebook page, Bryan Ogden heir to the Ogden chef line, and former Gorden Ramsey general manager JP Teresi, are ready to open their newest restaurant in Boca Park. This huge place takes over where Gorden Biersch Brewery failed, and promises to bring unique and fun food to locals.

According to owner JP Teresi,

“This exciting enterprise will create a premier dining destination for locals. Situated in the heart of Summerlin with direct access from the 215 freeway, this unique restaurant will offer patio seating that welcomes guests with a myriad of vivid colors and breathtaking design elements to a one-of-a-kind restaurant. The Mixx Grill & Lounge will invite guests to enjoy music each weekend featuring some of the top ten DJs around the world.”

They wrote on their Facebook page that

The Mixx Grill & Lounge offers warm hospitality, exceptional food, great cocktails and the level of service you would expect from world-renowned restaurateurs — all in the comfort of your neighborhood.

We tried to get more information about the launch, and find out what DJs they were bringing, but the number listed on their website went unanswered to a PR firm’s voice mail.

Either way, this should be one of the most interesting and exciting restaurant ventures to hit that side of town, and let’s hope it goes better than the restaurants next door.
