Doctors are warning about the dangers of potent vaping liquids made of synthetic marijuana.

They’re legal to buy if you’re 18 years old. But in recent months, teens vaping the additive in school were rushed to the emergency room.

Health officials warn vaping and e-cigarette use among teens, even middle schoolers, has become an epidemic. One study says teen vaping jumped 75 percent this year — and a growing number of teens are using vape devices to get high.

Authorities say some vaping liquid additives contain synthetic marijuana, many times stronger and more dangerous than real pot.

“These compounds are the same ones they used on synthetic pot almost a decade ago,” said Georgia Poison Center Director Dr. Gaylord Lopez.

Synthetic pot is not the same as all-natural marijuana. Often referred to as Spice or K2, this synthetic form of weed does not have the same side effects as marijuana, but it does have compounds that are chemically similar, known as synthetic cannabinoids.

There are many different varieties of synthetic weed, all of which may contain different ingredients that cause different side effects not typically felt with the real stuff. Many users of fake weed report feeling nauseous, agitated, and paranoid. Reports also say users have experienced chest pain, cardiac problems, stroke, kidney damage, brain damage, hallucination, and even death on occasion.

The fire department in Washington, D.C., has responded to more than 500 overdoses in just the last 2 weeks.

Here in Southern Nevada, leaders at Westcare have been sounding the alarm about the drug for years.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police (LVMPD) has not had a good relationship with the Jewish Community in Vegas.  The previous Sheriff was often called anti-Semitic, and even went as far as trying to ban Jews from even being police officers. So much that Metro itself was sued for discrimination and lost $350,000 when they refused to allow an Orthodox Jew to be a detective.

Now their lack of a dedicated Hate Crime Unit that works with the Jewish Community is coming under fire after multiple hate crimes have been reported this year — and nothing much has been done about it.

Recently 12 Swastikas were found in a Jewish Neighborhood, only a few blocks away from the Southwest Chabad of Las Vegas. LVMPD has refused to investigate this seriously, saying it’s not a “hate crime” for whatever reason — even though it was specifically targeted after the killing in Pittsburg.

Now, a visibly Jewish woman in the same neighborhood has been targeted also with swastika on her door and a “Heil Hitler.”

LVMPD has refused to return my phone calls about this crime — which I believe will also be ignored after processing as just “kids being kids.” In fact, I spoke to two local anchors at  told me the same thing: that Metro isn’t commenting on why they aren’t considering these “hate crimes.”

Why is LVMPD not taking these seriously? Vandalism is considered a “low level” crime in Nevada since it happens so often. Usually the police do nothing about it and doesn’t even show on their statistics for anything serious. If they have to consider all of these “hate crimes” it makes the current Sheriff look bad. However, without dedicated Hate Crime units and specialists that can investigate this, there isn’t much they could do otherwise. LVMPD has made it clear the Jewish community isn’t important.

Two year old Delia was trick or treating near Lake Mead and Sandy in North Las Vegas. Shortly after Delilah went limp, and was staring blankly and now doctors say she tested positive for THC — which is the main component in Marijuana that makes you high.

With recreational marijuana now legal in Vegas, doctors are warning parents to be extra vigilant when checking their kids’ candy on Halloween. They worry that the kids may confuse edibles for candy.

Dispensaries and the marijuana industry insist that the problem is being blown far out of proportion – but health officials say its better to be safe than sorry. In this case, they learned the hard way this is a real danger.

Nevada pimp and Republican Candidate for Legislator has died according to his campaign manager.

Chuck Muth, his campaign manager announced the death Tuesday morning at his brothel after a night with several of the ladies.

“I wish something I could tell you. I’m on my way up there now to find out exactly what the hell happened. I got a call from his assistant, in tears saying Dennis died and I need you to come out here immediately, I can’t deal with this myself,” Muth told the RGJ.

“Law enforcement sources tell us they got a 911 call from Hof’s Love Ranch in Carson City, Nevada around 11 AM. We’re told the call was for an unresponsive male. Detectives are currently on scene … no foul play is suspected, ” according to TMZ

He was known nationwide for his role in the HBO series “Cathouse,” which documented the lives of the workers in his half-a-dozen Nevada brothels.

Hof was recently ran a successful campaign in the primary election for Assembly District 36. He was facing Democrat Lisa Romanov in the November general election.
