Beauty Bar Las Vegas Closed Forever

0

Beauty Bar Las Vegas is gone forever after numerous complaints from patrons, other business owners about everything from employees selling drugs to people having sex in the bathrooms.

The owner, Roxie Amoroso didn’t have much to say, claiming that she thought she had actually sold the bar to someone else for $100k, but instead found out she was being evicted.

(Her story doesn’t make a lot of sense)

As usual, Ms. Amoroso was clueless about what was going on, marking her two year ownership as nothing but a complete disaster.

However, that wasn’t all her problems: The city council by a 5-0 vote, revoked the alcohol license, leaving them with no way to even serve drinks. So, even if she wins the eviction, she’s not really in a place where she can actually run a business.

Much of the blame has to go to Ms. Amoroso who refused to actually live in Las Vegas after buying the bar, and ran it as her own personal money pit while hiring less-than-savory friends to run the place and seemingly, according to LVMPD, deal drugs in it.

Tyson Fury vs. Tom Schwarz: heavyweight boxing is back to Las Vegas

0

Lineal Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury announced on Sunday that he will be fighting Germany’s Tom Schwarz for the WBO Intercontinental title on June 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Paradise, Nevada.

Coming off a controversial draw with WBC title-holder Deontay Wilder, last December, the 30-year-old Fury shocked boxing fans and pundits by picking Schwarz, an undefeated (24-0, 16KOs) but untested fighter, as his next foe.

Fury’s camp already set the date and the venue for his next fight last week with his manager promising a top-5 heavyweight opponent. However, Schwarz is not even rated as a top-15 fighter in his division.

Schwarz’s noteworthy victory came against Senad Gashi, who was giving him all kinds of trouble in the match but got disqualified for headbutting the 24-year-old German three times. The match also saw a scuffle after the two decided to slug it out once more despite the referee already disqualifying Gashi.

Fury’s upcoming showdown with Schwarz will be his first of his five-fight deal with Bob Arum’s Top-Rank Promotions and ESPN. The Briton will reportedly pocket at least $20M – excluding his share in the merchandize and close circuit sales – in this fight.

Fury’s Fight – A Big Boost for Vegas

After his first experience of fighting in the United States in December, Fury wanted more exposure in a far more lucrative US market. This is the main reason why he signed a deal with Top-Rank and ESPN in the first place, believing the move would boost his popularity in American household.

Choosing the Thomas & Mack Center as the venue for his debut in the Las Vegas strip is also part of Fury’s strategy to become a huge boxing star. Thomas & Mack Center hosted some of the legendary fights in the sport’s history, including the third bout of Manny Pacquiao-Erik Morales trilogy, Oscar de la Hoya-Julio Cezar Chaves fight and the Evander Holyfield-Lenox Lewis undisputed championship bout.

With the success of the Fury-Wilder fight, the Gypsy King looks to make another big step to completely revive the heavyweight division. Throughout the years, Las Vegas has been a host of a number of blockbuster heavyweight bouts featuring Holyfield, Lewis, Riddick Bowe, Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali.

No matter how lopsided Fury vs. Schwarz would seem, this bout could pave the way for the comeback of the heavyweights as the premier boxing attraction. If this heavyweight renaissance eventually happens, Las Vegas as the center of boxing is poised to exponentially benefit from it with casinos and hotels cashing in on the influx of tourists in the city.

Thomas & Mack Center, which also serves as the home court of UNLV Runnin Rebels and hosts NBA summer league games, can accommodate up to 18,500 spectators. It’s ironic that after all these unforgettable fights, a heavyweight match still holds the gate record in the venue. The Lewis-Holyfield rematch grossed a record $18,124,200 in 1999.

Potential Big Fights in Vegas

Again, Fury’s fight is a significant one as it could trigger a series of big-money bouts down the road. Right now, the top-3 fighters in the heavyweights in the world are set to fight different opponents in a span of four weeks.

Wilder, who is still fuming in anger over the collapse of the negotiation for a second fight with Fury, will be defending his WBC crown against Dominic Breazeale on May 18 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. WBA, WBO and IBF champion Anthony Joshua will be making his US debut against Jarrell Miller on June 1 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

Top-Rank chief Bob Arum hinted that a second showdown between Fury and Wilder is very much possible, despite the two fighters signing with rival promoters and broadcasters.

“Their idea is to have Wilder fight twice on their platform and then to get together a do a PPV fight. ESPN is just a distributor. It may well be that Wilder also has a network involved. They may want to share the distribution in some way with ESPN and that is something we’ve done before,” Arum stressed.

A match-up between any of these three powerhorse fighters would be an absolute smash hit. It’s been a while since the heavyweight had three legit superstars gunning for the top of the division.  Of course, there’s no better place to host this magnitude of a fight than Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world.

Vegas Mexican Restaurant That Supported Trump Goes Out of Business

0

In the least surprising news of the year, the Las Vegas Mexican restaurant that made headlines when the owner, Texas-born Irma Aguirre invited Donald Trump, has closed without notice or fanfare.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, met with her and a few leaders at Aguirre’s downtown Las Vegas bistro in 2016 afternoon while dozens of immigration activists protested across the street – and the customers never came back. The local mexican community had protested the restaurant and the owner as being racist, and questioned her claim of “hispanic heritage.”

She blamed the Las Vegas Mexican community for her problems, even going on the news to complain that “Mexicans were violently” harassing her.  Probably not the best idea when you’re trying to promote a Mexican restaurant, to offend the community you’re “representing.”

Beauty Bar May Be Forced to Close After Illegal Behavior Cited

Not good news for the infamous beauty bar, which reportedly has been forced to close its doors after being served an eviction notice Friday by the Plaza Hotel who owns the property.

The notice states the owners, Red Wolf Dead LLC. Beauty Bar, have three days to vacate the property. The landlord states multiple incidents involving police being called out, as to why the eviction was served. The notice also says that the tenant allowed lewd activity and disorder, along with disturbances that interfered with the quiet enjoyment of the neighboring tenets.

According to a bar manager working in the area, who wanted to remain anonymous, the place had changed since the new owner bought into it, with cheaper drinks and even a death metal and goth night — where he claimed people were now shooting heroin in the alley way near the bar.

The current owner of the bar is Corey Harrison, from the TV Pawn Stars — with recently, Roxie Amoroso, a veteran Vegas promoter who is now the managing member.

Ms. Amoroso told Fox5 through their attorney Steven Stubbs, that the Plaza Hotel, that the eviction is illegal, and will be challenged. Attorney Stubbs is best known for being the attorney for the Motorcycle Gang the Mongols

Melania Going to Las Vegas to Promote #BeBest

1

First lady Melania Trump is going on a three-state tour to promote her “Be Best” initiative.

The White House says Mrs. Trump will travel next week to Oklahoma, Washington and Nevada.

This will be her first domestic overnight trip in her official capacity, ever.

But beyond shining a spotlight, it’s unclear what the initiative will involve.

That may be due in part to the first lady’s health; one week after the ceremony, on May 14, the White House said she had undergone a procedure to treat what was described as a benign kidney condition. She was hospitalized for nearly a week and didn’t re-emerge in public until weeks later.

Mrs. Trump will visit a school in Tulsa and a technology company near Seattle on Monday. On Tuesday, she will attend a town hall in Las Vegas.

The first lady unveiled her child well-being initiative last year. The program aims to teach children to behave responsibly online and to avoid drugs.

Crazy Snow Makes for Amazing Ski Season — in Las Vegas?

0

With Vegas getting tons of snowstorms, it’s is open for skiing and snowboarding. Really, and conditions couldn’t be better.

While the storm forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights and led to the closure of two interstate highways, those already here found time to ski!

“It’s refreshing to have a nice, consistent snow year like we’re having this year,” said Jim Seely, marketing director for Lee Canyon, formerly the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort. “We’re on par with average snowfall.”

Sin City is off the radar for most travelers planning a ski vacation, but it shouldn’t be, since it is closer to the major resorts of Southern Utah than Salt Lake City is, and while these resorts get less attention than famous names like Deer Valley, they get more snow, far fewer skiers and snowboarders, and cost a whole lot less money. With another foot of the state’s famously dry powder hitting the region in the past couple of days, this is one ski trip that should not be overlooked!

The resort in the Spring Mountains, roughly an hour northwest of the Strip, received 18 inches of snow between Saturday and Monday, bringing the seasonal total to 137 inches. That’s almost double the dismal 69 inches that set a record low last winter

For the entire week, Las Vegas is getting a rare taste of real winter weather, with significant snowfall across the metro area in the first event of its kind since record keeping started back in 1937.

The National Weather Service reported that there was 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) of snow at McCarran International Airport as of 4 a.m. Thursday.

The Federal Aviation Administration says on their website that some flights are being delayed on an average of one hour and 37 minutes, and will get worse during the day.

The weather service said Las Vegas’ half an inch (1.3 centimeters) of snow late Wednesday was the first measurable snow since the record keeping started.

Las Vegas schools were open Thursday and the Nevada Highway Patrol said some areas had snow and ice but all freeways were open.

Forecasters say the snow accumulation could reach to 3 inches on the city’s western and southern outskirts by Friday morning but that rain could reduce snow accumulations.

RedRock Canyon, reported that the the Scenic Drive and Visitor Center would be closed while they attempted to clean up the snow

Local Newscasters loved reporting the snow, sometimes for the first time.

There’s wild weather in Nevada! Parts of Las Vegas, including the strip, are waking up to as much as 2 inches of snow Monday morning.

The city got hit with a surprise storm Sunday night and there is a lot more to come!

This is the first time in more than a decade that the Las Vegas valley has seen enough snow for it to stick. Snow was reported in Southern Highlands, Henderson, Centennial Hills, Chinatown and Boulder City.

High temperatures in Vegas are supposed to be in the mid-to-upper 40s this week, and the city could get even more snow on Wednesday.

Vegas Workers Arrested After Massive Gun Show Theft

0

Two men made their initial appearances in federal court Wednesday on charges related to the possession of 65 firearms, including machine guns, and silencers, stolen at a Las Vegas gun show last month.

U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich of the District of Nevada and Special Agent in Charge Ray Roundtree of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives made the announcement.

Las Vegas residents Jamikko Foster, 27, and Eduardo Limon were each charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of an unregistered firearm. Foster is also charged with theft of a firearm from a Federal Firearms Licensee and unlawful possession of a machine gun. U.S. Magistrate Judge Nancy Koppe set a Feb. 27 preliminary hearing for the defendants.

As alleged in the criminal complaint, from Jan. 20 to 29, a total of 65 firearms and suppressors, also known as “silencers,” were stolen from the business inventory of three separate FFLs at the 2019 Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas. The SHOT Show, held annually at a Las Vegas convention center, requires FFLs to either disable or remove the firing pins from all displayed firearms. Based on these circumstances, ATF issued an alert to FFLs to be on the lookout for weapons missing firing pins.

On Feb. 10, a FFL alerted ATF about two men who inquired about purchasing a firing pin for an AR-style firearm. ATF was able to identify Foster and Limon from surveillance footage.

On Feb. 11, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Foster’s apartment and recovered 56 firearms, machine guns and silencers. The next day, a search warrant was executed at Limon’s residence and officers recovered an additional 10 firearms and silencers. One of the recovered pistols had a clamp attached to a security cable, which was still attached to the trigger guard.

If convicted, the maximum statutory penalty is 10 years in prison for each count and a $250,000 fine.

The charges contained in the complaint are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The case was investigated by the ATF San Francisco Field Division’s Las Vegas Field Office and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip N. Smith Jr. is prosecuting the case.
