FTC and Nevada Crack Down on Revenge Porn Sites

0

The Federal Trade Commission and the state of Nevada recently announced that they have charged the parties responsible for a revenge porn site with violating federal and state law by posting intimate images of people, together with their personal information, without their consent.

In the complaint filed in federal court, the FTC and Nevada alleged that the website MyEx.com is dedicated to revenge porn and has solicited intimate pictures and videos of victims, together with their personal information such as their name, address, employer, and social media account information. According to the complaint, the site urged visitors to “Add Your Ex” and to “Submit Pics and Stories of Your Ex.” In numerous instances, as alleged, the defendants allegedly charged victims fees from $499 to $2,800 to remove their images and information from the site.

“MyEx.com uses reprehensible tactics to profit off of the intimate details of individuals’ private lives,” said Acting FTC Chairman Maureen K. Ohlhausen. “People who were featured on this site suffered real harm, including the loss of money they paid to remove intimate images and personal information, loss of jobs, and being subject to threats and harassment.”

According to the complaint, visitors to MyEx.com can rate the videos and pictures they see and post comments. Allegedly, the site included victims’ full date of birth, personal email address, telephone number and links to social media profiles, along with the intimate images.
The FTC alleges that the defendants knew that many of the individuals did not consent to having their intimate images and personal information posted to MyEx.com.

The complaint asserts that many individuals suffered serious harm because of the defendants’ conduct, including direct financial loss, loss of employment and harassing emails.

The complaint names EMP Media, Inc., Aniello “Neil” Infante, Shad “John” Applegate, also known as Shad Cottelli, and one or more unknown parties doing business as Yeicox Ltd.

The FTC alleges that the defendants’ practices constitute unfair acts or deceptive practices in violation of the FTC Act. In addition, Nevada alleged that the defendants’ conduct constitutes a deceptive trade practice under Nevada law.

The Commission, together with Nevada, has approved a proposed settlement with one of the defendants, Neil Infante. Infante purportedly served in various corporate roles, including President of EMP Media Inc.

Pursuant to the terms of the settlement, Infante is banned from posting intimate images and personal information of others on a website without notice and consent, is required to destroy all such intimate images and personal information in his possession, and is banned from charging individuals fees for removing such content from a website. He is also permanently restrained from serving as an officer or director of any business unless he has knowledge of the ordinary operations of that entity. He has agreed to a $205,000 judgment, which the order will suspend upon payment of $15,000 in light of his financial condition. The payment received will be used to provide redress to individuals who paid him take-down fees.

0

Los Angeles culinary legend Roy Choi will electrify the Las Vegas dining scene in the fall of 2018 with the debut of a Koreatown-inspired concept. Choi’s multifaceted, multisensory experience will be a dynamic destination within the transformation of Monte Carlo into Park MGM.

“I cannot wait to share what we have in store for Las Vegas at Park MGM,” said Choi. “This restaurant will be full of soul and culture that is influenced by the energy of Koreatown in Los Angeles, my hometown.”

The soon-to-be-named restaurant will be a celebration of L.A.’s Koreatown district featuring immersive spaces that feel comfortable and familiar, while creating an eclectic environment for people to open their perceptions to the new and extraordinary.

MGM Resorts International Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage Ari Kastrati said, “Roy Choi and Sydell Group transformed Koreatown with new experiences that area had never before seen. It’s very exciting to get that dream team back together to create an unforgettable experience at Park MGM.”

Known as the pioneer of the food truck movement and bringing quality cuisine to all neighborhoods and people, Choi was named one of the 100 Most Influential People by TIME Magazine in 2016. His restaurants across California – including Kogi BBQ, Chego!, A-Frame, Commissary, POT and LocoL – are rooted in a groundswell following that inspired Choi to find fun ways to feed people in new and creative fashions.

Choi continued, “We are building this place to celebrate the fans and families that have supported us, and to welcome new friends around the world to the culture, personalities, and amazing food experiences born on the streets of L.A.”

OJ Simpson Claims Las Vegas Casino Banned Him Because He is Black

0

O.J. Simpson, criminal and former bad actor, says he may sue the  Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas for $100 million because he was banned from the casino — and claims they were racist for kicking him out, not because he’s a convicted criminal.

He claims the Cosmopolitan staff “acted with malice and racial prejudice” because he kicked out of the hotel’s Clique Bar this past November after allegedly getting drunk and disruptive, and because of that, broke state law and federal discrimination laws.

Simpson’s lawyer, Malcolm P. LaVergne didn’t cause a scene as claimed by the press, but instead had left the Cosmopolitan property peacefully after being asked.

However, for whatever reason, the attorney claims the Casino lied to the press and created a false narrative that he ” was drunk, became disruptive at the Clique bar, was angry at hotel staff and glasses were broken at the bar,” in a bid to negatively impact terms of his parole.

The attorney did not mention how, the man found liable for killing his wife’s lover, was damaged by being removed and banned by the Casino.

Trump to End Legal Marijuana in Las Vegas

0

Donald Trump’s Attorney General, Jeff Sessions is rescinding the Obama-era policy that had paved the way for legalized marijuana to flourish in states across the country, two people with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press.

Sessions will instead let federal prosecutors where pot is legal decide how aggressively to enforce federal marijuana law, the people said.

The move by President Donald Trump’s attorney general likely will add to confusion about whether it’s OK to grow, buy or use marijuana in states where pot is legal, since long-standing federal law prohibits it.

Sessions’ announcement will come just days after California joined states such as Colorado in permitting pot for recreational purposes. The drug will be legal for adults 21 and older, and residents will be allowed to grow up to six plants and possess up to an ounce of marijuana.

Glazers to Close Almost Immediately

Glazier’s Food Marketplace, named the top Grocery Store in Vegas for almost 6 years by the Review Journal, will be closing.

The store’s website reported the closing, stating, “We will be open for a few short weeks to sell off everything.” Store owner William Glazier announced.

The store has been a favorite of many in Vegas, but has come under protest by Unions.

BREAKING: Shooting in Vegas Takes Lives of Two Casino Officers

0

Echoing the violence of October 1st and causing more fears, two Las Vegas casino officers have been fatally shot Saturday while investigating a disturbance in a room at a hotel-casino and the suspected shooter is facing critical injuries that he will not survive after turning the gun on himself, police said.

The shooting happened before 7 a.m. at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, which is located west of the Las Vegas Strip. According to police, the suspect, Christopher Olague, ran from the hotel-casino after the shooting and into a nearby neighborhood where he tried to enter two homes but the residents were able to keep him out.

Police found him in a laundry room accessible through a garage of the second home after he appeared to have shot himself in the head, LVMPD Lt. Dan McGrath said.

The victims’ identities were not released. Police said the uniformed security guards were a man and a woman in their 40s and that one was armed. Their identities and their causes of death will be released by Clark County Coroner’s Office soon.

McGrath said the circumstances of what happened in the hotel room still unclear.

The hotel-casino’s office did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

The shooting comes a day before law enforcement officers expect tens of thousands of New Year’s Eve revelers on the Strip and three months after the city dealt with the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Officials have been trying to reassure residents and visitors that the city is safe, especially in the wake of the Oct. 1 shooting. A high-stakes gambler killed 58 people and injured hundreds more after he shattered the windows of his suite on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino on the Strip and unleashed gunfire on a country music festival below. He then killed himself.

Customer Leaves Fake Review for Amazing Restaurant When Demands Walk-In

1

I’m tired of Yelpers, customers, demanding that they receive special treatment when they enter restaurants, and worse, then leaving bad reviews almost as a type of extortion when they don’t get exactly what they want. Terrell Potter is a perfect example of a customer that decides to actually change a review from years ago, when he didn’t get exactly what he wants when he walked in and the place was full of reservations.

I don’t normally call out all the horrible reviews of restaurants that are left by angry customers, but this guy just plain lied about his experience.

He walked into a restaurant, full of reservations, as he admits, but then claims he was waiting three hours before there was food.

Here’s the problem, we got the receipts from Lotus of Siam for his table, because the manager made sure she recorded the complaints of this difficult customer. Ignoring that he ordered the same dish three times, and seems to have asked them to cut the meat for him, the check was closed under an hour, meaning he ordered, received food, and then paid within an hour.

The idea they were waiting “three hours” for their food, is obviously fake and absurd.

We even got a hold of his messages to the restaurant, when he couldn’t get in immediately without a reservation.

Read About the Vegas Police Snipers Ready to Kill ISIS on NYE

0

With ISIS Making threats and the deadly October Las Vegas shooting still fresh in the minds of Americans, Las Vegas officials are adding snipers and a strong National Guard presence to oversee New Year’s Eve celebrations in Sin City.

According to CNN, the National Guard presence will double in comparison to previous years, and snipers will be on rooftops surveying the New Year’s Eve celebration revelers.

Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said that “1,500-plus” police officers will be deployed in the days leading up to New Year’s Eve, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Wednesday.

“I’m confident every available resource is being used to make sure this New Year’s Eve will be safe,” Lombardo said during a Wednesday conference.

In the event that an incident were to occur, Lombardo said that the amount of quick-response teams had been doubled so as to ensure maximum coverage and efficient response time. The presence of medics will also be increased, and mobile command units staffed by federal authorities will be brought into the city.

Authorities added that certain items — to include strollers, backpacks, glass bottles, and coolers, among others — will be banned from the Las Vegas Strip.

A three-mile stretch of the Strip will be closed, and 800 concrete bollards were positioned along the Strip to prevent vehicles from crossing erroneously into pedestrian traffic.

Another change includes a local and federal task force responsible for keeping their finger on the pulse of what is happening around the city in a variety of ways, including via social media monitoring, to ensure safety.

Clark County Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak asserted that the increased security for this year’s New Year’s celebration is unprecedented in comparison to previous years.

“Nobody puts on a New Year’s Eve show like Las Vegas, and never will it be as safe as it will be this year,” Sisolak said during the same conference. “The safety measures in place are impressive.”

According to the Review-Journal, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority anticipates approximately 330,000 people to visit Las Vegas for New Year’s celebrations.

New Year’s Eve will be the second time massive security increases have taken place since the deadly October shooting, which claimed the lives of over 50 people and injured hundreds more.

Officers armed with rifles were positioned on high to surveil November’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon which saw over 40,000 people attend.
