Reedom Elementary is normally quite busy around the times students get to school, and when children are let out. There are occasional traffic jams, sometimes an upset parent or two. However recently, according to parents, the situation has turned dangerous and the administration of the school seemingly refusing to do anything about it.
Construction has turned one side of the school into two lanes, one lane where parents often park to let off their kids. However, now with the construction barriers that have been at the school for almost a week, it has required many cars to go into the wrong lane to get around traffic, causing a potential nightmare for students crossing the street and a danger to everyone.
One parent described the scene as “a madhouse” that had honking cars and parents yelling at each other.
While we were in the area, two cars almost collided with our truck, going the wrong way. Honking and flashing lights while ignoring the children getting out of their parent’s car.
We had called CCSD police the previous day and no one would comment about it, but after about 15 minutes, a CCSD police officer did show up and pulled over a car that was speeding the wrong way, and almost had a head on collision with the officer.
