0

Maverick Helicopters, the exclusive company to provide helicopter travel to and from Las Vegas Motor Speedway, offers music fans the opportunity to upgrade their festival experience with VIP flight transfers to Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), Las Vegas on June 16, 17 and 18, 2017.

“Since partnering with EDC nearly seven years ago, helicopter demand to the festival has grown significantly,” said Bryan Kroten, vice president of marketing at Maverick Helicopters. “We have gone from using two aircraft the first year to a fleet of more than 22 helicopters each night.”

Prior to the expedited, 15-minute flight, passengers can enjoy hanging out in Maverick Helicopters’ 6,000-square-foot terminal, which completely transforms itself to create a festival-like atmosphere for its guests. The terminal also remains open for 90 hours straight during EDC, making it the busiest weekend of the year.

Once aboard Maverick Helicopters’ EC130/H130 ECO-star aircraft, guests can use voice-activated headsets to talk to the pilots and listen to electronic dance music; sit back and relax in the theater-style, leather seating; and take in stunning, bird’s-eye-views of the Las Vegas Strip and festival grounds through its wraparound windows. To add to the experience, passengers are often surprised by artists or celebrities on their VIP transfers. Past DJs who have flown Maverick Helicopters to EDC include Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Calvin Harris, DJ Snake, Hardwell, Kaskade, Martin Garrix, Tiësto, The Chainsmokers, Zedd and many more.

Private charter prices start at $3,000 for up to seven people for a one-way flight or $5,000 for up to seven people for a roundtrip flight. Individual seat rates start at $550 per person for a one-way flight or $850 per person for a roundtrip flight. Prices are based off of per day rates.

US Army Reviewing Use of “Golden Knights” Name

0

According to folks in the know, the Vegas Golden Knights name “has caught the attention of the United States military because a parachute team goes by the same name.”

They aren’t happy that the new NHL team has effectively “stolen” the name for the hockey team, and more than a few people have called it “disrespectful” to the members of the military.

Alison Bettencourt, a spokeswoman for the Army Marketing and Research Group in Arlington, Virginia was quoted as saying, “We’re reviewing the situation and figuring out what the way ahead would be.”

The Golden Knights are based in Fort Bragg and have used this name since the 1960s.

“We understand that one of the Las Vegas team owners (Bill Foley) has Army connections, and will likely understand our interest in this announcement is meant to protect the proud history of the Army’s Golden Knights and their vital role in telling the Army story and connecting America with their Army,” said Bettencourt, who noted the group learned of the Golden Knights through media accounts last Wednesday.

There is no Army connection with this team,” said Bettencourt, adding that the Army wants to ensure that the Golden Knights parachute team is known for who and what they’ve been since the 1960s, when they started using the moniker. The parachute team is one of only three Defense Department-sanctioned aerial demonstration teams, and its soldiers perform at more than 100 events a year.

I’m well aware of that,” Foley, a 1968 graduate of West Point, told the Review-Journal on Tuesday night. “But we didn’t check with the Army on the name Golden Knights because once we copyrighted and trademarked it, our lawyers and the NHL’s lawyers didn’t feel we needed to.”

Seasoned restaurateurs and husband-wife duo Kris and Bindi Parikh will break new ground on Saturday, December 3rd with the grand opening of their second Mint Indian Bistro location in Spring Valley. The new restaurant will give them the square footage to bring their vision to life. This will allow them to bring a brand new dining experience, like never before seen in an Indian restaurant to Las Vegas.

There will be an exclusive Tasting & Tour from 5-6pm for the press, following which, the restaurant will open its doors for a Grand Opening from 6-10pm. Seats are limited and guests can reserve their spot by registering here: https://mint-grand-opening.eventbrite.com.

“The phenomenal success of our concept has made this a reality,” Kris said. “We regularly received requests for a another location. We looked far and wide for the right time and spot, and found it here in Spring Valley.”

Kris and Bindi didn’t want it to be just another Indian restaurant.

“Our new location will have the same great food and service, as well as our basic food philosophy of simple, colorful, and flavorful food that appeals to all five senses,” Kris said. “However, we will also be able to provide our patrons with a live tandoor, a great space for private parties around our live tandoor for up to 40 guests, a 250 capacity eclectic banquet hall, and a sports bar featuring beer and wine by the ounce, in addition to our classic libations,” he said.

Kris added, “We want this restaurant to be a complete dining experience.”

The new location also boasts a 7,500 square foot, state-of-the-art, kitchen, and a spacious, open dining area with The Lassi Bar at center stage.

The updated menu has a variety of authentic North and South Indian dishes, as well as Indo-Chinese fusion food, a.k.a. Hakka cuisine. It also caters to various dietary requirements, like vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free.

Caesars To Charge for Parking

1

Caesars Entertainment has decided that they wanted to be more like MGM this next year. So they have announced that they will now require everyone to pay for parking in their eight properties in Las Vegas.

Yep, you heard it hear first: the paid parking program is going to start around Christmas to get all that delicious gift money from Grandma. The first two properties to institute paid parking will be the LINQ and Harrah properties.

Our priority is to ensure that our hotel guests, local residents, and Total Rewards loyalty members have an improved parking experience,” said Bob Morse, President of Hospitality at Caesars Entertainment. “Guests who stay, game and shop at our resorts have said that parking spaces and valet services have become increasingly scarce, so we believe that implementing a paid parking program while also investing in LED parking guidance systems will help address these issues.”

Good news: Locals will be able to park for free in self-parking for the time being.

Golden Knights Hockey Gear Available in Vegas #dtsummerlin

0

According to the good folks at Downtown Summerlin, one of my favorite places in Las Vegas right now, the store Sports Town has stocked some new “Golden Knights Gear.” As you may or may not know, this is the name of the newest professional hockey team, slated to skate into Las Vegas very soon.

No word if its actually official, or someone just took a chance and put a logo on gear. Either way, it’s pretty awesome looking.

Vegas High school Students Yell “White Power” at Jewish Students

0

Reports are coming out of Coronado High School that several white students were caught taunting minority students with the rallying cry of “White Power” on school bus. According to parents who have reported the incidents, several students reported to their parents that they were the victims of a hate crime where some white students specifically targeted them because they were Jewish and or another minority.

One student wrote that the Chinese driver of the school bus was visibly scared of the students who went on for several minutes with this hate crime.

We have started a thread on Facebook (feel free to follow) with parents and reporters to make sure the school appropriately follows up with this, and more importantly makes it clear this is unacceptable. No student, regardless of race, religion or creed should have to deal with hate crimes in our public schools.

NFL Doesn’t Want Raiders in Vegas Because of Sheldon Adelson?

0

Insiders are reporting that most of the NFL team owners are against the Raider’s moving to Las Vegas. Among other things, they don’t want their players playing in Sin City, possibly being tempted by “gambling, drugs and lose women.”

Additionally, several people have expressed that they are not terribly thrilled with the partner in the deal being billionaire casino magnet Sheldon Adelson who will undoubtedly use the Stadium to promote his gambling empire around the world and loosen restrictions on NFL players and gambling.

Evan Weiner of  SportsTalk Radio claims that it’s much more: “Like many others, the Oakland Raiders frontman Davis might have a problem with Sheldon Adelson. It seems that Adelson wants Davis to rent his Las Vegas stadium, which will be partially funded by the largest stadium subsidy, three quarters of a billion dollars from taxpayers, ever approved by a government in America history, the Nevada state legislature and the state governor. That three quarters of a billion-dollar handout alone should be enough to disqualify Adelson from calling the proposed Las Vegas facility his stadium. But this is Sheldon Adelson and he has an awful lot of sway or his money does. Adelson is not a charitable sort when it comes to sharing his money unless he gets something out of it and apparently, he wants something from Davis and the NFL, perhaps getting a piece of the team which is not going to go over well with the NFL owners.”

Oakland is doing all they can to kill the deal. The Oakland mayor’s office has confirmed the city has reached a “framework deal” to keep the Raiders football team in Oakland, ultimately ending plans for the organization to move to Las Vegas, according to a published report.

“There is a framework that has been agreed upon and is currently in closed session with the county and will be in closed session on Nov. 29 with the city council,” Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf’s director of communication Erica Terry Derryck said, “Both bodies will review so we know if we can move forward.”

Schaaf had been working with an investment group led by former Raider and NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott in an effort to keep the team in Oakland. Original plans for the group to purchase the land currently housing the Oakland Coliseum and next door Oracle Arena with an eye toward constructing a new football stadium on the site fell apart last month.

Regardless of what the Oakland Media is saying, it’s pretty clear that the move to Vegas is something that is a long time coming. Professional sports in Las Vegas is going to come, and regardless of if it is the Raiders or some other team we need to look at this as a positive move to grow Las Vegas’ economy. Using Adelson as some excuse is ridiculous.

Golden Knights is New Name of Vegas Hockey Team

0

Yes, Vegas has finally announced the name of the new hockey team and they chose the worst possible name. Obviously tons of amazing names could have been used, but they decided to go with the extremely boring “Golden Knights” which has nothing whatsoever to do with Vegas.
