First Look at Andre’s Bistro and Bar in Southwest Vegas

0

Veteran Journalist and current Las Vegas Review Journal Restaurant reporter, Al Mancini visited Andre’s Bistro and Bar this Tuesday. This restaurant is perhaps the most anticipated South West Vegas culinary opening ever. While he’s not posted a review yet, this post on Facebook says it all — this perhaps will be the best restaurant outside the strip.

Take a look below:

Vegas Snow Prompts Evacuation of Mt. Charleston

0

Snow in the Las Vegas area has caused an evacuation notice for the Kyle and Lee Canyon areas of Mt. Charleston due to the risk of avalanches from recent snowfall.

“The recent accumulation of snowfall has put the Mount Charleston at high risk for avalanches,” said Clark County Deputy Fire Chief John Steinbeck, who oversees the county’s Office of Emergency Management in Las Vegas and surrounding areas. “We will continue to monitoring conditions and will advise the public of any changes in the threat or activity level. At this time, we are taking steps to make the public aware of the situation so residents and visitors can make the best decisions for themselves.”

A reported 58 inches has fallen at the Kyle Canyon Fire Station since Jan. 18.  On Monday, the Lee Canyon Ski Area reported a depth of 94 inches of snow.

Conditions are being monitored by local, state and federal officials to determine if additional precautions should be taken.

Metro Police and Nevada Highway Patrol troopers will monitor traffic congestion and road conditions closely in both canyons, so motorists can expect temporary closures along Nevada State Routes 156 (Lee Canyon Road), 157 (Kyle Canyon Road) and 158 (Deer Creek Road) to regulate safe access.

Visitors are encouraged to check driving conditions, chain requirements, and road closures before traveling to the mountain. For real-time road information, dial 511 within Nevada, 1-877-NV-ROADS (1-877-687-6237) outside of Nevada, or visit www.GoMtCharleston.com

According to the U.S. Forest Service, any terrain with a slope steeper than 30 degrees may be prone to avalanches. The presence of people, new snow, and the wind can trigger avalanches.

The following are a few of the warning signs of unstable snow and possible avalanches:

You see an avalanche happen or see evidence of previous slides.
Cracks form in the snow around your feet or skis.
The ground feels hollow underfoot.
You hear a “whumping” sound as you walk, which indicates that the snow is settling and a slab might release.

Steve Wynn Kills Tom Ford for Dissing Melania

0

The wars have started: Daily Mail reports the Wynn Las Vegas has removed all Tom Ford beauty products and eyewear from the resort after comments the designer made about Melania Trump.

Ford, 55, said during an appearance on The View in November that he would not be dressing Melania Trump while she was in the White House because his clothes are ‘too expensive’ for a first lady to wear, noting that in that position she would have to ‘relate to everybody.’

Donald Trump responded this by telling Ainsley Earhardt on Fox & Friends that Melania never asked Tom Ford to dress her.

‘Never asked Tom Ford, doesn’t like Tom Ford, doesn’t like his designs,’ said Trump.

He then went on to say: ‘Tom Ford is an example. “I will not dress the First Lady.” He was never asked to dress – and Steve Wynn just called me and he said he thought it was so terrible what Tom Ford said, that he threw his clothing out of his Las Vegas hotel.

That was later confirmed by a spokesperson for Wynn Las Vegas, who told DailyMail.com in statement: ‘Wynn Las Vegas confirms it removed the Tom Ford line of cosmetics and sunglasses from the resort this past weekend.’

Raiders File Paperwork to Move to Las Vegas!

0

The Oakland Raiders have filed a formal application to relocate to Las Vegas, according to Steve Sisolak, the chairman of the Clark County (Nev.) Commission.

Sisolak made the announcement via Twitter. It was not immediately confirmed by the team or the NFL.

The filing would be merely a procedural step.  Raiders owner Mark Davis has said for some time that he intends to move the franchise from Oakland to Vegas. The move still must be ratified by at least 24 of the 32 owners. That vote apparently could come as soon as March at the annual league meeting in Phoenix.

Vegas’ First Self-Driving Car Immediately Breaks Down

0

Visitors to Vegas scuttling between the city’s many attractions can now hop inside an autonomous shuttle bus to take them to their next stop. It’s touted as the “first completely autonomous, fully electric shuttle ever to be deployed on a public roadway in the U.S.,” a claim that appears to overlook Uber’s Pittsburgh-based efforts.

Sounds exciting — of course, if it didn’t seem to break down and need to be towed. We got this exclusive, unfortunate, photo of the vehicle being towed away after what seems to have been a less than desirable results. Or perhaps they forgot to put in the 5000 AAA batteries it requires?

Doctor Su “Mengele” Who Threatened to Kill Jews Being Investigated by the State of Nevada

0

Not so good news for Dr. Sean Su, the bigoted doctor who seems to have a fascination with threatening Jews in Las Vegas. The State of Nevada’s Medical Board of Examiners has opened yet again ANOTHER investigation into him, because of his erratic behavior online that has included threatening dozens of people with violence in emails, posts on Facebook.

Yep, the doctor who once had his license suspended for practicing surgeries without a Board Certification and injured patients with his unusual experimental methods that seem to involve a hacksaw and hammer, is hopefully going to lose his license once again.

Last time Dr. Su (maybe we need to call him Mr. Su) had his license suspended, this is what the State Bureau of Health said about him: his office “was stocked with expired and unlabeled medications and found “severe breakdowns in infection control practices, including sterile supply breaches.”

Quoting the Review Journal article on him in 2009, it shows that the “Doctor” is barely operating with a license and running his facility as if it’s in third world clinics:

“Investigators also found other safety breaches. They discovered a canister of liposuction waste in one examination room. Su told them it had been there for days. Sterile instruments were packaged and stored tightly in a drawer, which could compromise sterility, and one package had a hole in it.

A box of scalpels had expiration dates from 2005, and all the suture kits had expiration dates from 2008, 2005, 1999 and 1998. Investigators asked Su to bring the exact sutures he would use for a procedure, and he brought sutures with a January 2005 expiration date, the report said.

Eight of the medications in the clinic were expired — including Lidocaine, which Su said he used for the local anesthesia. Su said he sometimes used medications brought by the patients themselves, the report said.
Matarasso said he has never heard of a doctor using medications that are brought in by patients. The drugs are all prescription-only, so it probably wouldn’t be legal, he said.”

His rating of 3 stars out of 5 on HealthGrades is fortunately a bit higher than his wife’s one stars on Yelp.
