Police Investigating Report of Wynn Raping and Impregnating Woman

0

A woman told police she had a child with casino mogul Steve Wynn after he raped her, while another reported she was forced to resign from a Las Vegas job after she refused to have sex with him.

The Associated Press on Tuesday obtained copies of police reports recently filed by the two women about allegations dating to the 1970s. Police in Las Vegas revealed earlier this month that they had taken the statements after a news report in January revealed sexual misconduct allegations against the billionaire.

Wynn has vehemently denied the misconduct accusations and attributed them to a campaign led by his ex-wife, whose attorney has denied that she instigated the report by the Wall Street Journal.

One police report shows a woman told officers that Wynn raped her at least three times around 1973 and 1974 at her Chicago apartment. She reported she got pregnant and gave birth to a girl in a gas station bathroom.

In one instance, the woman claimed that Wynn pinned her against the refrigerator and raped her. She said he then made a phone call, kissed her on the cheek and left. The report does not explain how Wynn is alleged to have entered the apartment or if they knew each other. The woman claimed she did not give him a key.

The second police report shows a woman told police she had consensual sex with Wynn “several times” while she worked as a casino dealer at the Golden Nugget but was forced to resign when she told turned him down in summer 1976.

The women’s names are redacted on the reports, and police said they do not identify people who say they are victims of sex crimes.

Wynn resigned as chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts on Feb. 6, less than two weeks after the newspaper reported that a number of women said he harassed or assaulted them and that one case led to a $7.5 million settlement.

Why MGM Resorts is in Trouble in Las Vegas

4

MGM Resorts is in serious trouble in Las Vegas, and their continuing dwindling market share is causing their investors to seriously worry about the future of the company. Insiders within the industry have pointed out to their inability to attract new customers because their aging executive staff has zero connection to the modern crowd of Instagram following millennials.

A perfect example of their failure, was Level Up, a project done with Hakkasan Group, that failed to ever attract customers. The 12,000-square-foot gaming emporium, find pay-to-play games such as pool, foosball, Jenga and ping pong, as well as QuadAir Hockey, Bubble Hockey, Giant Pac-Man  and mich more, was supposed to be “Millennial Paradise.” Unfortuantely, with all the financial problems that Hakkasan had, they stopped promoting the project according to an insider – and it became considered a joke, and had horrible reviews on yelp.

It isn’t helping that Motley Fool has noticed that MGM is not doing well. “Digging into the numbers, you get a picture of why MGM Resorts had an underwhelming quarter in what seemed to be a favorable operating environment. Revenue per available room was down 4.9% on the Las Vegas Strip, driven by high-end resorts like Bellagio, MGM Grand Las Vegas, and Mandalay Bay all having both lower average daily room rates and lower occupancy versus a year ago.”

Also, the parking fee structure hasn’t made customers happy: The increase is the second in as many years for the chain, which started a trend when it began charging guests and visitors to park in 2016.  Customers have not liked this, and have started to go to other places like The Palazzo which doesn’t charge parking for anyone.

While the $30 extra per night may not seem like a lot, customers complain that the addition on top of the “resort fees” are making their hotels often cost twice as much as they used to.

“MGM is really overplaying their hand with all the fees,” JC Martin of Las Vegas Locally told us. “It’s one of the dumbest ways to increase revenue because it leaves such a bad taste in people’s mouths. They’re losing life-long customers and that will really hurt them when the economy cools off again.”

MGM has tried to blame much of the loss on the October shooting, claiming that since many of their properties are at South Strip, they were affected by the shooting. However, much of the blame is on their PR team including their PR Chief Yvette Monet who quit soon after the shooting after being heavily criticized. According to a staff member, she “just didn’t come back to work one day.”

Is there any hope? Maybe.

They have hired Sean Christie as their “President of Nightlife.” Christie is known as one of the top executives in the club industry, and the creator of clubs such as XS and Encore for Steve Wynn. It’s obvious that MGM is looking to get rid of their relationship with Hakkasan as fast as possible, and replace all their clubs with their own brand clubs.

Marijuana in Vegas Has to Stay in Vegas

0

Tourists catching a flight out of Sin City can now dump their leftover legal marijuana in metal containers set up at the airport.

The 10 green bins dubbed “amnesty boxes” prevent federal transportation agents from finding pot on passengers during security screenings. The drug is legal in Nevada but still banned by the U.S. government.

The containers were installed last week following a county ban on marijuana possession and advertising at McCarran International Airport, aiming to keep it in compliance with federal law. They are bolted to the ground and designed so marijuana and prescription drugs can only be dropped in, not taken out.

“The amnesty boxes are offered as a way to help people comply with this ordinance,” airport spokeswoman Christine Crews said in an email.

Transportation Security Administration agents normally hand over marijuana-related cases to local law enforcement. Las Vegas police Officer Aden Ocampo-Gomez said no citations have been issued stemming from the airport’s ban on marijuana possession and advertising, passed in September.

The boxes are something travelers may have seen before – at least two airports in Colorado, where recreational marijuana is also legal, offer amnesty boxes.

But they’re likely to be a bigger draw at the Las Vegas airport, which saw 48.5 million passengers last year. Legal sales of recreational marijuana began in the state on July 1, and they have exceeded expectations. That’s despite a ban on consuming it in public on the Las Vegas Strip, in hotels and casinos.

Lucky Dragon Casino Bankrupt A Year After Opening

0

Lucky Dragon filed for bankruptcy protection last Friday, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Developer Andrew Fonfa now employs 98 people after closing the casino floor and restaurants in January. Foreclosure loomed following a $90 million loan going into default.

The newspaper reports that the resort was valued at $143 million in bankruptcy documents. Another 179 people invested in the resort through the EB-5 visa program that helps foreigners gain U.S. residency by investing $500,000 into a business that creates at least 10 jobs.

Those investors ponied up $89.5 million. The foreclosure auction was reschedule on Thursday.

Financial troubles were first made public in early January when the casino posted a sign on its door reading “Casino Temporarily Closed.” Lucky Dragon management said the casino was ‘reorganizing,’ and that meant less gaming and dining options and layoffs for casino workers.

Within months of opening, the Lucky Dragon revamped its restaurants and expanded its baccarat operations. But, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, customers were few as the hotel-casino celebrated its first anniversary last month.

“One year later, several evening visits between December 3 and Monday [December 7] found a maximum of 14 people dining in Pearl Ocean and no one in Phoenix [the high-end restaurant]. There was just a handful of people at the slots,” the paper’s story said.

Wynn Gets $0.00 in Compensation for Being “Quit.”

A termination agreement between embattled casino mogul Steve Wynn and the company bearing his name shows that he won’t receive any compensation and can’t be involved in any competing gambling business for two years.

The terms of the agreement were released Friday by Wynn Resorts. Wynn resigned as CEO earlier this month amid sexual misconduct allegations.

The billionaire has vehemently denied the allegations, which he attributes to a campaign led by his ex-wife.

As part of the agreement, Wynn also agreed to cooperate with any investigation or lawsuits involving his time with the company. He can have his attorney present. Wynn Resorts created a committee to investigate the sexual misconduct allegations.

As fallout from the allegations, Wynn also resigned as finance chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Bull Wandered Las Vegas Downtown For A Few Hours

0

An animal control team in Nevada knows how to take the bull by the horns. Early Wednesday morning, residents in a Las Vegas neighborhood woke up to see a bull roaming the streets, according to KIFI Local News 8. The bull, whose owner was still unidentified at the time of the report, roamed the streets for two hours before the animal was corralled and moved.

Eventually, an off-duty officer who works with livestock was able to corral the bull into a trailer without anyone getting hurt at about 7 a.m.

It is unconfirmed if the bull tried any slot machines during his time away from the livestock pen.

This was not the first time a bull has run loose in Las Vegas. Another bull enjoyed a bout of freedom on April 16, 2017, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, before it also was corralled.

As a note, intrepid reporter, Mike Doria of Fox5 did offer to help.

Inside Vegas’ $688 Caterpillar Soup

0

Las Vegas is known for excess—the shows, the all-you-can-eat buffets, the sheer amount of neon. Practically everything about Sin City screams “Indulge! More! More!” That’s why it’s no surprise that of all the places in the world, it is the home of what is most likely one of (if not the) world’s most expensive soup.

If you’re game, the bowl of soup costs $688 and is served up at the Talon Club, a VIP private gaming room which is located in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The price was designed to honor the Chinese belief in the number 8 being the luckiest number. (In Cantonese and Mandarin, the world for wealth sounds very similar to the word for eight, hence the luck.)

The Cordyceps soup at The Talon Club is made with black-skinned chicken breast, longan berry, and red date, served in a tea-like broth featuring a quarter ounce of Cordyceps in every bowl.

No wonder it costs $688 — caterpillar fungus is valued at over $14,000 per gram, and this fancy fungus in particular was hand sourced from the Himalayan Mountains.
