First lady Melania Trump is going on a three-state tour to promote her “Be Best” initiative.
The White House says Mrs. Trump will travel next week to Oklahoma, Washington and Nevada.
This will be her first domestic overnight trip in her official capacity, ever.
But beyond shining a spotlight, it’s unclear what the initiative will involve.
That may be due in part to the first lady’s health; one week after the ceremony, on May 14, the White House said she had undergone a procedure to treat what was described as a benign kidney condition. She was hospitalized for nearly a week and didn’t re-emerge in public until weeks later.
Mrs. Trump will visit a school in Tulsa and a technology company near Seattle on Monday. On Tuesday, she will attend a town hall in Las Vegas.
The first lady unveiled her child well-being initiative last year. The program aims to teach children to behave responsibly online and to avoid drugs.
I would really like a meet and greet. I have a few questions for her. #bebest.
