After Uber started doing ” criminal background checks on U.S. drivers, it was found that “hundreds” of drivers had criminal records to suspended licenses, according to local source within the company.
The problem in Las Vegas and Nevada seems to have been much worse because The Nevada Transportation Authority claimed that they don’t have authority to force drivers for Uber and Lyft to participate in fingerprint background checks — and that the system that Uber was using was nothing more than a basic internet check that didn’t list most crimes that occurred out of state.
As part of this, Khosrowshahi former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will joined Uber’s Safety Advisory Board as chairman.
