Meizhou Dongpo, an upscale Sichuan/Szechuan restaurant that mainly serves wealthy individuals in Mainland China, has started construction in the Canal Shoppes in the Venetian-Palazzo. This 18,000 square foot location is going to be their international flagship, and part of an expansion into the United States.

“We are thrilled to welcome Meizhou Dongpo to Las Vegas and the Grand Canal Shoppes,” said John Zilliken, senior general manager, Grand Canal Shoppes. “In a city with a more than 41 million tourists and a  devoted and sophisticated local culinary scene, this dynamic and notable international power-house is well  positioned for immediate success and acclaim. We look forward to a successful partnership and are excited  for our guests to experience this extraordinary addition.”

According to Wang Gang, president of Meizhou Dongpo, “Food is essentially a cultural and intellectual  product that can and should be consumed and enjoyed. The charm of Chinese food should not be limited by any borders of nations.”
