Chef David Chang Goes on Unhinged Racist Rant and Reveals he Really Hates John Curtas

0

In what can only be described an extremely vulgar interview with Chef David Chang of momofuku– with him whining and complaining about pretty much everything, and dropping f-bombs left and right, Chang reveals how much he hates “White Guys” who critique his food and in particular Vegas food influencer John Curtas.

At the one minute mark it gets really interesting, and he starts his personal attack against Curtas. He whines that “there’s people in my career who have been pain in my ass, I don’t know why. John Curtas, I hate him. I didn’t want to even mention his name.”

He claims that because of John Curtas’ “shitty personality,” he tried to get Cosmo to ban Curtas from the restaurant, but lost that fight. “He gave us a review bad review,” Chang claimed.

Yes, John Curtas’ review wasn’t good, as he heavily critiqued the overload of umami. As Curtas reviewed, “after three trips around this menu, I threw in the towel. There are some good things to eat here – the spicy cod hotpot being good fish, well-treated; the katsu chicken an old-fashioned, mushroom cream sauce delight – but by the time you get to them, you will have been drowned by a tsunami of umami.”

Then the interview gets really weird and somewhat racist, with Chang claiming that “white guys” really bother him, proclaiming that “I hate when white guys tell me how to make Asian food,” as if genetics somehow give the ability to notice the overload of umami.

He even gets more personal and unhinged, so much that the reviewer seems taken aback by the viciousness and extreme swearing. “He’s a shitty person, bad fucking guy,” Chang rants, and then says he’s ok with saying “horrific things” and “hopes for the worse” for Curtas.

This type of racist rant isn’t just strange and unprofessional, but really puts both the Cosmo and the restaurant itself in weird place: their clientele is mainly “white guys” from the United States, and Chang’s target should include “white guys.” By saying that they shouldn’t be able to critique or even enjoy the food because they have the wrong DNA is not just offensive but weird.

I sincerely hope Chang grows up and apologizes for not offending many his clientele but wishing what seems to be harm on John Curtas.

Bleached Magician Murray Sawachuck Shrinks his Head at Golden Tiki

The Golden Tiki added to its Cabinet of Curiosities Wednesday night by unveiling celebrity magician Murray Sawchuck’s shrunken head. Managing Partner Branden Powers and The Baron of the Universe, former contestant on “America’s Got Talent,” were on hand to present the honor to the celebrity magician, comedian, and host of family-friendly “Murray the Magician” show at Planet Hollywood.

“This is very cool. Thank you to The Golden Tiki,” said Sawchuck. “It’s great to be amongst the ranks of Carrot Top and Robin Leach and all the other shrunken heads who have come before me.”

Said Powers, “We’re excited to add Murray’s head to our wall. These heads keep getting better and better, and it’s an honor have these Las Vegas icons be a part of The Golden Tiki tradition. ”

Sawchuck’s head was crafted over a four week process by Smithsonian artist Terry Barr, and is the seventh in a series of celebrity shrunken heads on display at Vegas’ iconic Tiki revival bar. Previous shrunken heads include Marky Ramone of The Ramones, Carrot Top, Frank Marino, Robin Leach, Norm Clarke and Vinnie Paul.

23 Vagos Motorcycle Club Members Arrested for Series of Crimes

0

Members of the notorious Vagos Motorcycle club have been indicted by by the feds. Federal prosecutors say 23 Vagos Motorcycle Club leaders, members or associates are being sought in three states on charges including racketeering, murder, kidnapping, robbery and assault.

A U.S. Justice Department statement on Friday characterized the Vagos as an outlaw motorcycle gang and said eight of the people charged were responsible for the September 2011 killing of a Hells Angels’ boss at a northern Nevada casino. Officials say the indictment filed Wednesday in Las Vegas remained sealed until all 23 defendants were in custody.

Three suspected were already arrested in Vegas, where the Vagos are one of the largest Motorcycle clubs in the area.

Those indicted from Southern Nevada are Victor Adam “Slick” Ramirez, 35, Steven Earl “Big Steve” Carr, 43, and Robert Allen “Mayhem” Coleman, of Las Vegas, officials said. James Walter “CJ” Henderson, 64, of Henderson and John “Maniak” Halgat, 39, of North Las Vegas were also indicted, officials said.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Blanco characterized the arrests in and around Las Vegas, Reno, Los Angeles, San Jose, California, and Kailua, Hawaii, as a coordinated takedown of the Vagos.

“The indictment alleges that the Vagos gang is a highly organized criminal organization that adheres to a hierarchical chain of command, and whose members conspired to enrich the gang; to preserve, protect and enhance the power of the gang; and to keep victims in fear of the gang through acts and threats of violence,” officials wrote in a news release.

(Photos) Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens Turns Into the Italian Island of Capri

Abounding with lemons and Cypress tress, Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens transforms into the picturesque island of Capri, Italy this summer. On view now through September 9, the Italian-inspired display takes visitors on a delightful journey through scenic grounds rich in botanical wonder, calming water features and vibrant colored villas, reminiscent of the charming island.

Envisioned by renowned designer Ed Libby and the Bellagio Horticulture team, the summer installation pays homage to well-known gardens throughout Italy and surprises visitors with a replica of the island of Capri, located in the Bay of Naples.

The journey begins in the East Garden as guests make their way through two 26-foot stone archways framed by eight Cypress trees. A four-tiered, 8-foot fountain, centrally located between the archways adds a soothing element to the garden while lemon trees emerge from four oversized handcrafted Italian vases.

Passersby will happen upon two lush gardens, resembling an estate near Rome. In the South Garden, an oversized 22-foot, moss-covered fountain overflowing with water pays tribute to The Fontana dell’Ovato located in Villa d’Este, a 16th century residence in Tivoli. Made of lentils, an 8-foot plate depicts the image of an Italian village landscape, illustrating the beauty found throughout the countryside. Nearby in the North Garden, water streams from five lion and monkey sculptures mounted on a foliage-covered wall lined with four lemon topiaries comprised of 1,400 flowers and an intricately majolica-tiled bench.

Surrounded by magnificent vegetation and eight hanging Italian lanterns, onlookers catch their breath at the rugged landscape and cove-studded coastline in the West Garden. Fifty multicolored villas complete with terraces, a 12-foot chiming bell tower and sun-soaked umbrellas create an architectural model representing life on the island of Capri. A 30-foot lemon tree provides shade to blue and white yachts calmly floating by Lovers’ Rock.

Bellagio’s Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is complimentary to the public and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Is Clique Hospitality and Hearthstone being Kicked out of Red Rock Resorts?

0

Someone affiliated with Red Rock Resorts and Stations Casinos really, really want this rumor to be true — and has been calling and emailing bloggers and media for the last week. I am curious the reasons why, and who would benefit from this? Perhaps there is some politics going on that I still don’t understand but my apologies for taking the rumor to be anything but fake at this point…

However, Stations / Red Rock wanted to make clear they aren’t doing anything and plan to work with Clique for the foreseeable future.

“The rumors in your blog about the restaurants at Red Rock Resort and Green Valley Ranch Resort are false. We value and enjoy a great relationship with Andy Masi and Clique Hospitality. “  Lori Nelson Vice President. of  Corporate Communications

Neo-Nazi Asshats “Desire The Fire” Sending Fake Legal Letters

2

Not happy with pissing off everyone with their neo-nazi affiliated bullshit, photos of the founder in front of a  nazi flag, they have started sending people fake legal letters under a fake law firm.

There are so many problems with this letter, which makes it out to be a fake:
1) They are using a template form found online. No law firm would do that.
2) No such attorney exists in the State of Nevada, nor do they identify which “law firm” they are with.
3) The attorney’s firm is a cell phone not registered to anyone under McKenzie
4) It’s a virtual office space, not a law firm.

What they are doing is not only stupid, it’s illegal to impersonate an attorney. Why they would do this is beyond me, but sounds like another ridiculously stupid part of the Saga which is Desire the Fire.

Two People Catch Deadly Legionnaires Disease at Rio

0

Many people advise to keep away from the Rio Hotel for lots of reasons, since its far from the nicest or safest hotel in Las Vegas. Add this to the reasons it’s just plain disgusting: Two people who made separate trips to Rio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino in March and April contracted Legionnaires’ disease.

Mark Bergtholdt, environmental health supervisor, says the hotel began using chlorine at high temperatures on Thursday to disinfect its rooms and water system.

Health officials say environmental testing of the hotel’s water system was ordered after the first illness was reported. And according to the Southern Nevada Health District and Caesars Entertainment, the testing came back positive for traces of the bacteria.

Legionnaires’ disease is a respiratory disease that spreads when water droplets infected with Legionella bacteria are inhaled. Symptoms are similar to that of pneumonia, including coughing, shortness of breath, muscle aches and fever. Up to 30% of all people who contract it can die.

“The company is working closely with the Southern Nevada Health District and taking aggressive remediation actions to ensure the safety of Rio’s water,” said Caesars Entertainment, the hotel’s parent company.

Naked City Tavern Closes Abruptly

0

In sadder news, the much liked Naked City Tavern is closing after about a year of being open. The restaurant, the brainchild of the owners of Naked City Pizza, featuring homemade tavern quality Italian food combined with beer and fun times, seemed to be on its way to long term success. However, for whatever reason they shut the doors immediately, leaving the staff and customers without warning.

Christopher Palmeri told PaceVegas that the  sudden closing does not affect the Naked City Pizza locations, including their express locations in bars around the valley.  They declined to provide any additional explanation on their closing.

Deana Martin fans will be treated to a special show honoring her father, the King of Cool, Dean Martin, on the anniversary of his 100th birthday. Martin will perform two spectacular shows as part of her acclaimed “Deana Sings Dino” concert series with two special guests including The Golddiggers and a mystery addition that will be revealed during the show through the “Surprise Guest Door.” Show dates are Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. inside the South Point Showroom

Martin’s weekend of shows will precede the “Deana Martin Celebrity Roast” honoring the ‘Man of the Hour,’ singer, entertainer and host of “The Dennis Bono Show,” Dennis Bono, on Monday, June 26 in the South Point Showroom at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m. The celebrity roast honors Bono on his 70th birthday and all proceeds raised will be given to the Opportunity Village. Those wanting to attend the celebrity roast can purchase tickets online or at the South Point Box Office starting at $35

From the moment she walks on stage, Martin takes her audience on a musical journey with her nonstop dynamic energy celebrating her legendary father Dean Martin and other great performers who shaped American music and popular culture for over four decades. “Deana Sings Dino” is a fully engaging, classy and contemporary presentation of Dean Martin’s most beloved songs of all time, capturing the swinging sophistication associated with her father and his time with The Rat Pack. In this electrifying musical revue, Martin sings hot new arrangements of enduring hits like, “That’s Amore,” “Volare,” “That’s Life,” “Everybody Loves Somebody”, “Memories Are Made Of This” and more treasured worldwide by her fans, those of her father and two men she refers to as her uncles, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.

These special shows have all the essentials of the classic concert entertainment experience, including legendary musical masterpieces, personal and often hilarious recollections from Martin’s life and career, an entire night of audience interaction and her innate vocal ability. Martin is undeniably authentic and a living connection to the greatest era in entertainment.

As an internationally acclaimed entertainer, Martin has become an instantly recognizable voice and fixture in the pantheon of ‘The Great American Songbook.’ Her 2006 debut CD release, “Memories Are Made of This,” stayed in a top ten sport for 40 consecutive weeks. In her memoir, Martin delights in sharing wonderful, never-before-told stories about her father and his ‘pallies.’ To her they were known as, Uncle Frank, as in Frank Sinatra and Uncle Sammy, as in Sammy Davis Jr., but to the rest of the world, they were known as The Rat Pack.
