Exclusive Look at Golden Gate Casino Redesign

Las Vegas’ original hotel, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, has completed a major expansion project, marking a new chapter in the 111-year-old Downtown Las Vegas property’s elaborate history. Featuring a modern yet timeless design from Dez Motif and architecture by MOSER Architecture Studio, the renovation includes a casino floor nearly doubled in size, a majestic grand entrance, an extension of its outdoor bar, OneBar at One Fremont Street and more.

“Golden Gate is an important landmark in Las Vegas’ narrative and it was our responsibility to revere its past,” said CEO and owner Derek Stevens. “So many prominent figures have walked down Fremont Street Experience and into Golden Gate throughout the last century, so we intend to respect and relish its history, while introducing amenities suited for today.”

The property’s new additions inhabit land once owned by La Bayou, a Granite Gaming Group property Stevens acquired in 2016.

This will mark Golden Gate’s second major expansion in more than 50 years – the first being the addition of a five-story luxury hotel tower, new lobby and exterior in 2012, also helmed by Stevens. The evolution of the property contributes to his vision to transform Downtown Las Vegas, including his highly anticipated plans for the neighboring 18th Fremont St. hotel-casino project.

Golden Gate is also famous for surviving the Prohibition era; hosting the likes of Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin; and being home to one of Vegas’ first electric signs and the city’s first telephone. As it continues to stand strong into the 21st century, the property’s new elements will include the following:

Expanded Casino Floor – Spanning 5,000 square feet, the updated casino space has introduced 91 new slots to the gaming floor. The centerpiece is an eye-catching 360-degree, 24-foot tower of televisions, artfully displayed as though the TVs are emerging from a fountain. Visitors are greeted by a multi-faceted crystal chandelier feature, composed of beautiful spirals cascading downward in tiers of beveled mirror accents. Club 1906 – Golden Gate’s loyalty rewards program – will now house its very own kiosk, complete with a Vegas-inspired neon sign to welcome players.
More Drinks for All – As a non-stop beverage destination on Fremont Street Experience, OneBar at One Fremont Street has expanded 20 feet to become one of the longest bars in Las Vegas. Boasting an impressive television wall, frozen libations and the popular flair and dancing bartenders, it will be a perfect watering hole for visitors checking out a show on Main Street Stage or concluding a ride on the SlotZilla zip line.

Lavish Entryway – Mixing the nostalgia of vintage Vegas glitz with Art Deco style, Golden Gate has introduced a redesigned façade, including a glamorous 500-pound golden velvet drapes to create an unforgettable casino entrance. Inspired by the Jazz Age, the drapery is adorned with exquisite gold medallions, serving as a grand arrival to the casino’s marble-floored rotunda.
Upgraded Back-Of-House Space – On top of guest-facing experiences, Golden Gate used its expansion as an opportunity to enhance back-of-house operations. This includes an updated employee dining area with a snack bar; a massive beer cooler for keg storage; a liquor room which will serve as a dispensary for all bar venues on the property; and a private dressing area for the Dancing Dealers.

(VIDEO) Britney Spears Hilariously Calls Out Drunk Fan During Vegas Show

Oops, someone had a little too much to drink!

Britney Spears hilariously called out a fan who was brought up on stage during Wednesday night’s Piece of Me Las Vegas show.

“Why, hello!” the 35-year-old singer dressed in black lingerie and thigh-high boots said to the fan during her song “Freakshow.” “Are you OK?”

Spears then asked his name and as she walked up to sign a T-shirt that was given to him, she exclaimed, “Oh, my goodness. You smell like you have a lot of alcohol on your breath!”

The audience started laughing and then the singer’s dancers escorted him off the stage. “Jesus Christ!” Spears jokingly said making a funny face before starting her performance.

Last month during her show, Spears blasted the press about the ongoing accusations that she doesn’t sing or lip syncs at her Vegas residency. She proved them wrong by performing a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “Lets Give Them Something to Talk About.”

Watch her performance in the video below.

EXCLUSIVE: Joe Arpaio to Speak Along Side Famed Pimp Dennis Hoff

Former Sheriff Joe Arpaio will be giving the keynote address at the Conservative Leadership Conference, a popular republican gathering in Las Vegas.

Donald Trump issued his first pardon last Friday, to Joe Arpaio, expunging the former Maricopa County sheriff’s federal conviction on criminal contempt charges relating to illegal racial profiling.

The White House said 85-year-old Arpaio was a “worthy candidate” for the pardon, citing his “life’s work of protecting the public from the scourges of crime and illegal immigration.” Trump granted the pardon less than a month after a judge found Arpaio guilty of a misdemeanor contempt-of-court charge in a trial that was prosecuted by the president’s own Justice Department.

Along with Arpaio speaking will be probably the United State’s most famous Brothel Owner in the world, Dennis Hoff. Hof is an independent-minded “conservatarian” who ran for the Nevada State Assembly in 2016 and almost ousted the RINO (Republican in Name Only) incumbent. He is considering a re-match in 2018.

The conference is hosted at the Tropicana September 15th-16th over a thousand older white men are expected to descend on Las Vegas.

Cutting Board Filipino Restaurant Food Called “Unfit for Human Consumption” by Health Police

0

A Filipino restaurant that was nearly shut down in Las Vegas earlier this year over supposed health violations was in trouble again this month following another unannounced inspection by SNHD health inspectors.

A report said inspectors from the Southern Nevada Health District gave demerits to Cutting Board Filipino Gastropub for allegedly having inadequate hand washing facilities and ineffective pest control, among others.

Cutting Board received a C grade and 39 demerits — almost the same grade and demerits it received during a routine inspection in April.

A food reviewer on KTNV said health inspectors have called Cutting Board’s food “unfit for human consumption” because of moldy surfaces and vegetables, expired dairy products, and meals prepared in unsafe temperatures and conditions.

Managing Partner Barry Picazo argued that health inspectors caught them off-guard, though he admitted that some of their produce were expired and blamed it on training issue.

Picazo insisted that Cutting Board has since fixed its health violations.

Despite its poor health rating, Cutting Board still has favorable reviews on Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Facebook

Fountainebleu Eyesore Finally Bought for $600 Million

Good news:A long-mothballed, unfinished hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip has been sold for $600 million.

New York-based Witkoff and New Valley LLC, owned by Miami-based Vector Group, announced they bought the resort and casino property at 2755 Las Vegas Boulevard South from Carl Icahn’s Icahn Enterprises.

CEO Steve Witkoff says the company wants to “unlock” the property’s growth potential, though he didn’t say exactly what the company plans to do with the property.

Icahn had acquired the failed project for $150 million, after the Fontainebleau Las Vegas filed for bankruptcy protection in 2009 during construction. Aventura-based Turnberry Associates’ Jeffrey Soffer, who spearheaded the hotel development, had blamed the bankruptcy on Lehman Brothers’ collapse and the banking industry’s woes, which led creditors to stop funding construction.

In South Florida, a partnership led by Witkoff is also in contract to buy the Weston Town Center for about $90 million, with plans to transform the retail complex into a mixed-use retail destination with a potential hotel component.

British Man Detained by Immigration After Airline Sends him Accidentally to Vegas

0

A British man trying to fly from Germany to his home in Essex, UK somehow boarded the wrong flight and ended up in Las Vegas, despite his boarding pass being checked multiple times by airline staff.

And the expectant father said he was treated “like a criminal” when he wound up without a visa at Las Vegas airport.

Finance broker Samuel Jankowsky, 29, who was in Germany for a work trip, boarded what he thought was a Eurowings flight from Cologne to London Stansted airport after airline staff checked his ticket — which clearly shows London Stansted as the destination airport — three times.

The first he knew he was on the wrong flight was when he woke up from a nap and looked at the flight tracker on the in-flight entertainment screen, which showed his plane flying past the UK and towards the United States.

“When I got on the plane I did think it was a big plane for a short flight, but I didn’t worry about it. I put on my headphones and went to sleep,” Jankowsky told MailOnline.

“When I woke up I saw that we had passed the UK. I asked the person next to me what was going on and he said, ‘We’re flying to Vegas’.

“I said: ‘Oh f**k! Can we turn the plane around?’ I didn’t even know Eurowings flew to Las Vegas.”

Jankowsky said he used the on-board Wi-Fi to frantically message his pregnant wife Monique, with whom he has two other children.

But things got even more complicated when he landed at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport, where he said US immigration officers threatened to detain him.

“I was treated like a person who tried to enter the US without a visa,” he said.

“The official said we had an hour to do the paperwork to put me on a flight back to Cologne.

“If I missed the flight, I’d be detained until Tuesday [four days later] when there was another Eurowings flight.

“I had a boarding pass for London Stansted which cost around 120 euro (A$180). They seemed to think I had sneaked onto the plane to get a flight to Vegas on the cheap.

“They even put me in a little cell and completely searched me. I was supervised the whole time I was there.”

Jankowsky was eventually allowed to fly back to Cologne but said he “wasn’t treated well” by airline staff.

“The crew were professional but they treated me like they had a criminal on the plane, maybe a serial killer,” he said.

Once back in Cologne, Jankowsky said he had to travel to Mannheim to fly back to Britain.

He arrived home in Essex two days later than he was meant to, and about $1300 out of pocket for food, a hotel and his flight home.

“How could I have boarded the aircraft without a valid boarding pass for that flight? Staff checked my boarding pass three times. It shows the ineptitude of Eurowings staff,” he said.

“Heaven forbid my intentions were not good. This is a major security failing.”

But he acknowledged there was a funny side to the situation.

“When I told my sister she just burst out laughing for ten minutes straight,” he said.

“I think they could make a movie out of what happened to me. Like The Hangover, where the main character wakes up on a flight headed to the party capital of the world.”

A spokesman for Eurowings attributed the incident to an error by a service provider employee and said the incident had been resolved.
