Wynn Resorts missed Wall Street's third-quarter targets, according to Casino.org. For the quarter ended September 30, the company earned 33 cents a share on revenue of $1.69 billion, against analyst expectations of 59 cents a share and sales above $1.7 billion. Adjusted property EBITDAR dropped nearly $106 million to $464.2 million.

Analysts were kinder than the numbers. Stifel analyst Steven Wieczynski wrote that the company's Las Vegas premium focus "remains overlooked/undervalued," Casino.org reported, and Stifel estimated the Wynn Al Marjan Island project in the United Arab Emirates could be worth $19 to $25 a share in today's dollars. Wynn now puts its remaining equity needs for the UAE resort at $465 million to $590 million, below its second-quarter forecast, with an opening targeted for September 2027.

Closer to home, Casino.org reported that some estimates value Wynn's unused Las Vegas land at $1 billion or more. CEO Craig Billings said the company has "started to doodle and think about" plans for it. Billings also discussed Texas as a possible future market, according to the report.

The desk's takeMissing consensus by almost half is usually a bad day, and Wynn's answer is an island resort in the UAE and a vacant lot on the Strip. The doodling line is charming, but a billion dollars of dirt next to Encore deserves more than a sketchpad. Investors are being asked to price the future because the present quarter did not cooperate.
