OWL, the brain child of the crazy genius Stephan Galdau is still open despite 24/7 drama, but it seems without Chef Sandra Mallut in the Kitchen. Despite numerous posts claiming that she was joining the local bar and was their new chef, it seems that Mr. Galdau hasn’t been completely honest about who is working in the kitchen as the Chef.
Ms. Mallut clarified with PaceVegas that she was only hired to help as a consultant for a few weeks, and no longer is invovled with the project.
Mallut told us that, “…the owner got a bit over zealous with the Social Media and was stating that I was the Exec Chef and I had to have him stop which he did. I helped out for a couple weeks only and have moved on to other projects. I had never intended to be the exec chef as I only consult and was referred to him as a consultant.”
This comes only a month after Galdau created drama by attacking dozens of people in the industry, and threatening to sue veteran food reviewer Al Mancini for reporting that his kitchen staff had walked out. That beef between the two we’ve been told has been resolved and they are friendly.
On top of this, we’ve been told that OWL is being looked at by the Southern Nevada Health District after several people filed health complaints for a dog in the kitchen. One reviewer on Facebook commented that while they were eating, this dog was going to bathroom behind the bar. Jason Sarcinelli, a former friend of the owner told us that they had bought the dog and then got fake “Service Dog” tags in order to illegally keep it in the restaurant.
What does this mean for Owl? We had high hopes for this place before the owner seemingly lost his mind and attacked everyone he could. Without a Chef, can they really provide the quality food and service they are looking for? We’d love to give them a chance to see if Galdau’s large mouth is at all correct and this is a worth while space to go.
