Based on the very sexy hit films Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL, Magic Mike Live Las Vegas has begun previews at the city’s infamous Hard Rock Hotel.
Created by actor and former-stripper Channing Tatum, the Magic Mike franchise aimed to provide more brain to the brawn of male stripping. The Vegas show has the same goal; frustrated by the traditional Chippendale offering, the show will focus on athleticism and diverse forms of dance rather than gyrating to cheesy music (though it would be a shame if Genuine’s ‘Pony’ didn’t at least make an appearance).
There will still be a good dose of sexy though, based on the fictional Club Domina from Magic Mike XXL, the evening will focus on women and making them feel uplifted and empowered. Thirteen hand-picked dancers will perform in front of, behind, above and all around the audience, resulting in a 360-degree show guaranteed to leave viewers wanting more.
Newsflash! Magic Mike Live, as it turns out, is very, very intense. And, you know, it’s not like we thought a live stripping show based off a movie about male strippers would be PG13, but we didn’t think it would be… this extreme…
Tatum worked on the live show alongside choreographer Alison Faulk, who also worked on the films, and associate director Teresa Espinosa. Magic Mike Live Las Vegas is being touted as a third film in the franchise, with 25,000 advance tickets have sold after Tatum appeared on Ellen in September.
Magic Mike Live Las Vegas officially opens on April 21, but previews are currently being shown Wednesdays through Sundays at 7:30 and 10pm.
