Hooters in Palms Closing Down only Two Years After Opening

The world’s largest Hooters is closing its doors, less than two years after opening with much fanfare.
The record-breaking, two-story, 15,200-square foot space seats more than 400 guests. Hooters and Palms celebrated the grand opening with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and VIP event. Nearly 50 televisions pepper the walls, and guests can sit in booths or on high-back chairs. The bar features 12 video poker machines.
But the location of the Palms didn’t seem to match — and it’s closing fast, after losing what one insider told us was tens of millions a year.
Hooters, which first opened in 1983 in Clearwater, Fla., has more than 400 locations in 42 states and 26 countries.
