0

The Dorsey, a visually stunning cocktail bar, is now open at The Venetian® Las Vegas. The new lounge is the ultimate destination for cocktail enthusiasts to experience innovative craft cocktails served in a comfortable and upbeat atmosphere, with a balance of finesse and sophistication unmatched in Las Vegas.

Designed to feel like a home away from home, The Dorsey offers an intimate yet energetic environment. The 4,500-square-foot space features rich materials throughout, such as French oak, brass, leather and marble, while the millwork exterior incorporates mahogany and brass. Intimate seating options encourage social interactions such as a separate library space with a lustrous modern fireplace as the focal point. The Dorsey also incorporates stunning digital art displayed on eight screens from artists such as Marilyn Minter, Poyen Wang and Jason Salavon.

1This must-visit spirits spot features an inventive cocktail menu with pedigree, designed by award-winning barman Sam Ross of New York City’s Attaboy fame. Manned by the city’s top drink makers, The Dorsey is the perfect place to pop-in for a meticulously prepared drink or settle in for the evening with friends over signature cocktails, including shareable punch bowls.

Highlights from the menu include the Penicillin (scotch, fresh lemon, ginger & honey, Islay float), which New York Times named to its list of 11 essential drinks of the “modern cocktail revival;” Let’s Elope (gin, fresh melon, lime, orgeat); East Side Rickey (vodka, cucumber, mint, lime, club soda); A La Louisiane (rye, Benedictine, Italian vermouth, absinthe, bitters); Coney Island Express (rum, cold brew coffee, vanilla, Amaro Ciociaro); Creole Punch (rum, pineapple, ginger, citrus, allspice, nutmeg) and much more. The Dorsey also boasts a full-service bar with a collection of spirits, beer and wine.

The Dorsey is open nightly from 2 p.m. until 4 a.m. and is conveniently located on the casino floor of The Venetian, adjacent to Restaurant Row. For reservations or more information about The Dorsey, call 866.659.9643 or visit venetian.com.

Goodbye, Glutton No More #dtlv

1

Downtown Las Vegas is not the place to open a restaurant it seems for many restaurateurs. Many people have remarked that the community isn’t very loyal and the mix of lawyers and the semi-homeless junkies are very picky about what they eat.  Even with Timeout Las Vegas calling Glutton one of the top 5 restaurants, and blogger routing for it, it couldn’t quite make the cut and closed today – as predicted by Scott Roeben on twitter just last week

The Chef Wrote: “What can we say about the last 18 months? We have had engagements, marriages, birthdays, anniversaries, births, and even deaths celebrated within these walls. We have been a part of your lives with our seasonal dishes, constructed cocktails, and entertaining service. You have supported us and become a part of our lives as more than guests, but our family. Closing tonight is the last thing we want for this family. Inevitably, all good things come to an end.”

LV Weekly described it not being afraid “to explore the path less traveled. The unctuous chicken liver mousse ($8) is complemented by smoky grilled bread and a sweet port wine jelly. And the Buffalo-style sweetbreads ($11) are a gateway into the awfully tasty world of offal. Essentially a play on Buffalo chicken wings, the glands are rife with Frank’s RedHot and delivered atop a sharp blue cheese mousse.”

Perhaps it’s all about a name? Eating Las Vegas’ John Curtas (who has always been insanely honesat in his reviews) appropriately pointed out, ”In terms of unappetizing names for a restaurant, “Glutton” ranks somewhere between “overeater” and “crapulence” on ELV’s scale of distasteful monikers…”

This is not good news.

Alon Las Vegas Project is Dead on Arrival

Only a month or so after dropping Mariah Carey as a his Fiance, it seems that James Packer is completely done with Las Vegas. I’m not sure this comes as a huge surprise, since the land has been remaining completely undeveloped for the last year, but still it’s a huge disappointment for those who had taken positions with the company, only to now find they have no future.

“Today’s announcements will maximize value for the benefit of all Crown Resorts shareholders, allowing us to redeploy capital to fund high quality growth projects as well as adopting a number of capital management initiatives,” Crown Resorts’ Chairman Robert Rankin said in a statement that also announced other changes for the company, including selling some of its stake in a Macau-based casino venture and focusing more on properties in Australia.

Packer, recently ranked No. 453 on Forbes’ list of the world’s billionaires with a net worth of $3.5 billion, and his associates were planning a 1,000-plus room resort in two towers on 35 acres on the Las Vegas Strip where the Frontier had stood.

The site was purchased in 2014 for a reported $260 million, but no improvements to the site had been made.

VitalVegas reported this past year, “For his part, James Packer and his Crown Resorts, can’t catch a break in Las Vegas. The company lost $250 million when its roughly 20 percent stake in the failed Fontainebleau “evaporated” in a chapter 11 bankruptcy.”

The founders of the project are still trying to limp around Vegas, and issued a brief but extremely sad press release that almost seemed like they were begging for money, pointing out that it was “Shovel Ready.” Perhaps they mean that the only thing they can afford anymore is the shovel?

It was just this past summer that Andrew Pascal, the head of the project claimed that the rumors of the project being shuttered was false. His claims now that it would continue, especially with half-built projects like Fountaineblue still not finished, seem hallow and fake.

Video: Wynn to Include Alexa in Every Room

First, no Alexa isn’t a Vegas escort, so get that out of your mind.  Wynn Las Vegas and Amazon announced brillaint plans to equip all 4,748 hotel rooms at Wynn Las Vegas with Echo, Amazon’s hands-free voice-controlled speaker. The introduction of this technology into every guest room, beginning this month with installation in suites, will be an industry first in the world, allowing guests of Wynn Las Vegas to control various hotel room features with a series of voice commands via Alexa, the brain behind Echo.

“As we have moved through the years, technology has always played an important part in our resorts,” said Steve Wynn, Chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts. “The thing that Amazon has done with Alexa is quite perfect.  If I have ever seen anything in my 49 years of developing resorts that has made our job of delivering a perfect experience to our guests easier and help us get to another level, it is Alexa.  The ability to talk to your room is effortlessly convenient. In partnership with Amazon, becoming the first resort in the world in which guests can verbally control every aspect of lighting, temperature and the audio-visual components of a hotel room is yet another example of our leadership in the world of technology for the benefit of all of our guests.”

The introduction of this technology into every guest room, beginning this month with installation in suites, will be an industry first in the world, allowing guests of Wynn Las Vegas to control various hotel room features with a series of voice commands via Alexa, the brain behind Echo.
Alexa will be fully operational in all guest rooms by summer 2017, and will initially control guest room lights, room temperature, drapery and the television.  As the project evolves, future features such as personal assistant functions will be introduced.

“Millions of people already enjoy interacting with Alexa at home via their Echo devices, and now they will be able to experience the same convenience while traveling,” said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President of Amazon Alexa. “Wynn Las Vegas is known for its comfort and luxury, and we are excited to work with the resort to enhance its guest experience with Alexa.”

Alexa is the brain behind Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled devices – just ask and she’ll answer questions, read the news, set timers and alarms, recite calendars, check sports scores, control smart devices in-home, and more. Since Alexa runs in the cloud, she is always getting smarter – plus, it is simple and free for developers to build Alexa skills and integrate Alexa into their own products. In the US, there are already more than 6,000 skills available for Alexa.

Park Theater Opens in Las Vegas

Vegas: Don’t Fall for Fake UPS Scam During the Holidays

0

Vegas residents have been alerted to a scam that has been targeting them during Christmas. If you’re into online shopping, your email inbox is probably littered with emails of receipts and shipping information, but you might want to pay close attention to what’s actually in those emails. Scammers often send emails that look like they’re from shipping companies, but really contain attachments with malware that steal your personal information, ABC News reports.

The main one floating around the web now looks like an email that the “shipping company” tried to deliver a package, but missed you. The emails prompt you to open an attachment (typically containing malware or viruses) to enter your information and get an invoice to obtain your package. And there’s no turning back after you open an attachment, your computer will start downloading malware. Here’s an example of what the fake emails look like:

This type of malware scam isn’t new – the Federal Trade Commission has been warningabout them for years – but they tend to show up around the holidays, when people are shopping online a lot and feeling extra-generous. It’s easy to fall for these, because scammers usually use the companies logos to look legit. Before you click on a link that looks suspicious, you should hover over it to make sure it’s taking you to the real website.

UPS explicitly states on its website that they won’t contact you over email to request payment, personal information, financial information or account numbers. Fedex also saysthey won’t send you unsolicited emails about packages, invoices, account numbers, passwords or personal information. DHL says, if you get an email from them with an attachment, it’s fraudulent. So if you’re getting unexpected emails from these companies, you’ll need to take a closer look at the email itself.

The three big red flags you should look out for: The email asks you to download an attachment; the email also urges you to take “immediate action”; it asks you to “re-confirm” personal information, the FTC told ABC News. Your best bet is to keep track of your own tracking numbers and receipts as soon as you get them, so you can cross-check the emails you receive afterwards – or just stick to shopping in brick and mortar stores.

Dr. Sean Su MD “Sexy Vegas Skin” Threatens to Kill Jews with Storm Troopers #lvmpd

0

The story of Suzie Su, Dentist and her husband gets worse and worse. After reporting about her violent anti-semitic comments about Jews ruling the world, I received emails and evidence that they have a long history of threatening people including threatening a local Jewish business person with death by Storm Troopers.

Yes, this Doctor who has already been in trouble more than once with the State Board of Medical Examiners for botched surgeries.

Yes, below is blatant death threats against an individual who is scared for their safety, so doesn’t want to be named.

I’ll be honest, I am personally concerned for the safety of any Jewish patent, or any patient of these Doctors as they’ve not only not apologized, but have continued their bigoted comments all over Facebook.

Suzie Su Vegas Dentist thinks “Jews Control America.”

0

I can’t believe I still have to write about this shit. Here’s another clueless bigot who thinks “Jews Control America.” She ends with a “compliment” that really isn’t a compliment because it’s still based on bigotry of the worst kind: that Jews are “controlling” everything.

Frankly I think she should lose her license, or have it suspended ASAP for saying shit like this. It’s disgusting, period.

‘Nuff said, read the post below.
suzi

Antisemitism has manifested itself in structural inequality, dispossession, expulsion, and genocide, with the most well-known examples being in Europe, with the Spanish Inquisition, the expulsion of Jews from Spain in 1492, and the Nazi Holocaust in the 1940s. Antisemitism does not impact all of us who identify as Jewish in the same way. The experiences and histories of Jews of color and/or Sephardi/Mizrahi Jews are distinct from those of white, Ashkenazi Jews.

Jewish communities around the world have had different experiences with discrimination, bigotry, and violence. In this statement, we will be focusing on two forms of antisemitism that resonate in the United States today with stuff like this.
