Adele Cancels Vegas Shows for Love

0

Adele is at risk of angering her fan base if she puts off her Las Vegas shows any more.

The music legend cancelled her Las Vegas residency just 24 hours before the opening night, tearfully telling fans: “I’m so sorry. It just ain’t ready.”

At the time she blamed delivery delays of set parts and the fact “half her crew” had been struck down with Covid.

But now the Easy on Me singer has been accused of putting her love life before her music career.

It is claimed her one-year romance with sports promoter Rich Paul is getting in the way of her making “important career decisions”.

A source told Heat magazine: “Her management have told Adele that if she delays the Vegas gigs any further, she’s going to upset her fanbase even more. She could also face a public backlash that she’ll struggle to recover from.

“It seems as if she’s been putting off important career decisions because she’s been finding it hard to focus on work, instead of her relationship.

“Rich makes her feel safe, while the thought of going back on stage terrifies her.”

Adele started dating Rich in early 2021 after being introduced by mutual friends.

The couple were spotted in public for the first time in July pair at a basketball game, before making their relationship Instagram official in September.

Vegas Police Settle Lawsuit with Biker Club

0

Las Vegas police have agreed to a $300,000 settlement with the estate of a California man who said he was illegally questioned by officers during a traffic stop of a van carrying members of a motorcycle club.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports James Iiams was a passenger in the van that was stopped in 2017.

He filed a lawsuit the following year accusing police of violating the passengers’ constitutional rights by demanding their identification without probable cause. Iiams died in June following a battle with colon cancer.

His lawyer says that more important than the money were negotiated changes the department adopted regarding questioning of passengers during traffic stops.

The Best Bars Downtown Vegas

0

To help set the mood, here is a list of romantic bars off the beaten path in downtown Las Vegas.

DOWNTOWN COCKTAIL ROOM

Dark and mysterious, the Downtown Cocktail Room is an abrupt change of pace from the bright lights and chaos of the nearby Fremont Street Experience. The bar and lounge takes pride in expertly crafted cocktails, served in a quiet environment with lounge beats in the background. The eclectic menu changes about four times a year, but feel free to order absinthe or a shareable punch bowl when on a double date. Mike Morey’s Sip’n’Tip is a bar-within-a-bar near the side alley entrance. 111 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 702.880.3696downtowncocktailroom.com

GARAGISTE

Located in the heart of the up-and-coming Downtown Arts District, Garagiste is a wine bar founded by a pair of former Strip sommeliers. Buy a bottle to go from the retail shop or hang around in an industrial-modern tasting room while enjoying flights organized by style and region. Garagiste makes a point to have natural, organic, low-intervention wines that are hard to find anywhere else. 197 E. California Ave., 702.954.3658garagistelv.com

THE LAUNDRY ROOM

Can you keep a secret? The Laundry Room is a hidden speakeasy, tucked away inside Commonwealth about a block east of the Fremont Street Experience. Admission usually requires a reservation. It’s an intimate space with vintage furniture and bartenders who prefer to customize cocktails based on mood and feel. There’s also a regular menu of inventive recipes and complex ingredient combinations. 525 E. Fremont St., 702.291.7389laundryroomlv.comThe Japanese Cocktail at the Laundry Room is a combination of cognac, orgeat syrup and angostura.

LEGACY CLUB

The Legacy Club is one of the most alluring destinations inside Circa, the newest and tallest resort on Fremont Street. The top-floor rooftop lounge has incredible 360-degree views of the Strip and Downtown, whether enjoying your cocktail indoors or outside on an expansive patio. The bar pays tribute to old-school Vegas with busts dedicated to casino moguls past and present. Yet the strong, indulgent cocktails are the best reason to pay a visit. Circa, 702.247.2258circalasvegas.com

OAK & IVY

Oak & Ivy is your best bet for scoring drinks at the Downtown Container Park, a collection of businesses built from cargo shipping containers. The bar itself has just a handful of seats, but there’s extra room on the patio and rooftop deck. Mules and barrel-aged cocktails are the specialty, but Oak & Ivy also has one of the best whiskey collections in Downtown Vegas. 707 E. Fremont St., 702.553.2549oakandivy.com

SILVER STAMP

The Silver Stamp feels like a trip back in time, as well as a secret you only share among friends (or with a special date). The bar is layered in vintage decor, from oddball taxidermy to wood paneling, but has a loose vibe and in-depth beer selection. Most of the taps are dedicated to European drafts, including a smoky rauchbier and the kind of Kölsch you’d typically find at a European festival. 222 E. Imperial Ave., 702.527.1784silverstamplv.com

THE UNDERGROUND

Las Vegas: where tourist attractions come with a bar. The Mob Museum pays tribute to Sin City’s criminal past with floors of exhibits in the building that was once the Downtown courthouse. Venture to the basement level, however, and you’ll discover a Prohibition-style speakeasy with vintage cocktails, live music and even a real operational distillery to produce moonshine and other spirits in house. 300 Stewart Ave., 702.229.2734themobmuseum.orgThe Irish coffee cocktail is served at The Underground, the Prohibition-style speakeasy and distillery, located within the Mob Museum in Downtown Las Vegas.

Nevada Governor Threatened

0

The Nevada governor and his wife were accosted and chased from a restaurant in Las Vegas on Sunday, as two men, one a rightwing “digital creator”, shouted profanities and threats.

In a statement, Steve Sisolak said the men shouted “racist threats” at his wife, Kathy Sisolak, who is of Chinese heritage.

The Sisolaks planned to meet their daughter at the restaurant. They were not accompanied by security guards.

Cellphone video posted to social media showed a man in a red T-shirt reading “Cannabis and Combat” asking Sisolak for a picture. While posing with his arm around the governor, the man began to insult him.

The man was identified by news outlets as Justin Andersch, a “digital creator” who posts anti-government rightwing conspiracy theories on a blog called Cannabis and Combat. The Las Vegas Sun reported that Andersch took credit for accosting the Sisolaks on a podcast he creates.

“Where’s your security at, punk, huh?” Andersch was heard to say in the video, pointing his cellphone at Steve Sisolak’s face.

The governor turned to leave. As Kathy Sisolak joined him, Andersch followed, saying: “You working-for-China piece of shit.”

Several suspected hate crimes have recently been reported in Las Vegas and Nevada. Last August, an elected official in rural Nye county declared, without evidence, that Kathy Sisolak had family members in China profiting from selling items related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sisolak said then: “Kathy and I, along with so many others, have worked hard to fight back against the anti-Asian racism brought on by misinformation regarding Covid-19, but comments like these only take us backward.”

On Sunday, a second man also followed Sisolak and his wife out of the restaurant, shouting that the governor deserved to be hanged.

“We should string you up by a lamp post right now,” Andersch said. “You’re running into a patriot now.”

In the parking lot, Sisolak’s daughter, Ashley Sisolak, a lawyer and public defender, rushed over to her parents.

“Because your daughter’s with you, I’m going to leave you alone now,” Andersch said.

Nevada police confirmed they were aware of the incident at the restaurant and were investigating.

In a statement, Sisolak said: “We can disagree about the issues but the personal attacks and threats are unwarranted, unwelcome and unbecoming behavior for Nevadans.”

Siolak’s press aide, Meghin Delaney, said the governor was “deeply disappointed in how this incident unfolded, particularly with the language used to talk about First Lady Kathy Sisolak’s heritage”.

Vegas Cop Robs Casino

A Las Vegas police officer was arrested this morning on suspicion of armed robbery at an off-Strip casino.

Caleb Rogers, 33, faces charges of burglary with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, according to Metro Police.

Officers were called at 6:56 a.m. to a casino in the 4100 block of South Valley View Boulevard after reports of an attempted robbery, police said.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be filed. Rogers has been placed on suspension without pay.

David Chang Opens Weird “Spit Roast” Restaurant

Not happy with charging $500 for dumplings, and adding soy sauce to everything, David Chang has decided to take on “Spit Roasting”  with the anticipated opening of David Chang’s Bāng Bar on April 1.

Bang Bar, which already has a location in New York, will be part of The Cosmopolitan’s Block 16 Urban Food Hall.

“We are grateful for the support of the local community over the past four years and we look forward to deepening our ties even further with Bang Bar,” Chang said in a statement. “We are excited to open an additional Momofuku spot at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Bang Bar is one of the craziest concepts we’ve come up with and I’m excited to offer our Las Vegas guests an accessible, on-the-go option.”

Chang and the Momofuku group operate three other restaurants in Las Vegas: Momofuku also at The Cosmopolitan and Moon Palace and Majordomo Meat & Fish at The Palazzo.

Vegas Bets that Donald Trump will Run Again

0

Vegas is betting on Former President Donald Trump announcing his 2024 election bid during his highly-anticipated speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, according to Fortune.

The former president will be making his first public appearance since leaving the White House last month.

He is expected to use the speech to talk about the future of the Republican Party and the conservative moment and criticize President Joe Biden’s efforts to undo his immigration policies, Reuters reported last week.

But the big question remains whether Trump will use his time on stage to announce his run for president in the 2024 election.

As of Friday morning, those odds were 4 to 5, according to betting aggregators US-Bookies.com. This suggests that 55.6% implied the probability that Trump would put his name on the list.

“The betting markets seem confident that Trump will declare his candidacy during his speech, but not so much that he’ll be doing so as a member of a party that isn’t the GOP,” said a US-Bookies spokesperson according to Fortune. “The odds of Trump running in 2024 and not representing the Republican party are 4 to 1, which equates to just a 20% chance.”

More than a dozen CPAC attendees interviewed by the Wall Street Journal have already said they would back Trump if he were to run again in 2024.

A Politico-Morning Consult poll published three days after Trump’s acquittal in his second impeachment trial found that 54% of Republican voters would back Trump in the primary.

Violence on the Strip: Man Dies After Being Punched

0

A man is dead after being punched early Sunday morning on the Las Vegas Strip.

It happened near Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard around 4:30 a.m.

Police say a man was walking across a pedestrian bridge with a woman when the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Brandon Leath, began shouting and following them.

Investigators say Leath saw the couple going down the escalator, ran down the opposite side and waited for them at the bottom.

Leath and the victim got into a verbal argument and then Leath punched him. The victim was transported to Sunrise Hospital and pronounced dead.

LVMPD says officers monitoring real-time crime cameras observed the incident. Leath left the area, but was taken into custody a short time later.

As a result of the investigation, Leath was arrested for open murder and transported to the Clark County Detention Center.

The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

4 Ways to Make Your Vegas Trip One for the Books

0

For many people, Vegas has always been something to tick off their bucket list. It’s one of the most visited cities in the United States, and it’s known for being one of the largest entertainment hubs in the world. Basically, if you’re looking for a party or even just want to let your hair down for a bit, Vegas is where you want to go. But for someone who’s never been, it can be quite intimidating. With so many things to do, how do you know what’s worth squeezing into your trip? We’ll be going over four of the most popular attractions in Vegas, so that anyone can find something fun to do on their trip, no matter what they’re looking for.

Visit a casino

Look, you can’t really call it a Vegas trip without at least one trip to a casino. You may think casinos aren’t your thing – and that’s okay! Even if you aren’t into gambling, visiting a casino in Vegas is sure to be an experience. If, however, you are someone who enjoys gambling (responsibly, of course), then you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store as soon as you step foot in a Vegas casino. Whether you want to play the slots or you want the best Vegas odds and lines, Vegas is sure to provide you with a wide variety of betting options.

Don’t skimp on the hotel

It may be tempting to get the cheapest motel room and save your money for the Vegas experience, but staying in a true Vegas hotel is the experience. Or at least part of it. Due to Vegas attracting so many noticeable figures, many of the hotels have interesting histories and stories attached to them. If you’ll only be going on your trip in a few years and you’re just planning for now, you may want to save up so that you can live in The Drew once it opens.

Visit Madame Tussauds

If you’re looking for a more family friendly activity, or you’ll all partied out and just want a fun day out, Madame Tussauds will be the place for you. Is there any more suitable place for a museum filled with wax figures of celebrities than Vegas? Take a leisurely stroll between the figures – and don’t forget to take some selfies with your favorite celebrities. If you want to know how these wax figures are made, click here.

See a show

Vegas is known for entertainment, so be prepared to be entertained. No matter what kind of show you’re after, Vegas will more than likely have it. Whether you’re in the mood for a story, some music, or laughter, you’ll find a show that can give it to you. Vegas is known for its many comedy shows, so if you want the true Vegas experience, we recommend you start there. If you’ve never been to a comedy show, then this will be the perfect time to dip your toe sin the water. Just be sure you’re aware of the proper etiquette for such shows.

How Las Vegas Became A Sports Capital In A Matter Of Years

0

Once upon a time, not long ago, the only sports you could find in Las Vegas were inside the top-rated sportsbooks such as ones found at vegasbetting.com. Today, though? “Sin City”, as it’s aptly-named, is quickly becoming THE destination for sports.

How the heck did this even happen? Especially when sports leagues use to turn their nose up to the entire city? And how did it happen in a matter of five years or so? Well, it was no coincidence, we’ll tell you that. Next, lets cover the main reasons why Las Vegas has become a sports hub seemingly overnight.

Relaxed Rules On Sports Gambling

Las Vegas has always been a glamorous city. However, what stopped it from ever having a professional sports team was betting. More specifically, leagues worried the presence of gambling would seep into the sport and cause game “fixing.”

Oh, how times have changed. In 2018, the Supreme Court lifted a ban on sports betting at the federal level. Since then, dozens of US states have legalized the practice, which means Las Vegas is no longer the “only show in town” when it comes to regulated gambling.

Nowadays, leagues are no longer running away from betting. Heck, they’re embracing it as a new revenue driver. Most leagues, along with individual sports franchises, have signed multi-million-dollar deals with sports betting brands like Caesars and MGM.

Golden Knights Christen The City’s Sports Scene

No matter the industry, somebody has to be first to market. How that first entrant performs sets the table for others — either follow along or go the opposite direction. When it comes to Vegas pro sports, it all started with the Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL) in 2016.

And boy, what a dazzling start is was for them. The Knights proved the surrounding city could support a sports team as it sold out game after game. This never-ending support culminated with the franchise advancing all the way to the Stanley Cup championship — in its first-ever year!

The sell-out feat is especially impressive given the entertainment competition in Vegas. Here’s a city overfilled with casinos, shows, and nightlife, but despite that, the Golden Knights proved to be the hottest ticket in town!

Forking Over Big For Raiders Stadium

The NHL is great and all, but let’s make no mistake about it, the National Football League (NFL) still dominates the sports scene domestically. That’s why the city bent over backwards to bring in the Raiders from Oakland.

Believe us, it wasn’t cheap to do so. Allegiant Stadium — home of the Las Vegas Raiders — cost local taxpayers a boat load of money. The final bill taxpayers footed was a whopping $750 million, which came from a hotel tax. Think about it, that $750 million could’ve gone to other state needs, but instead it went to sports.

Whether you think that’s right or wrong makes no difference. In the end, it proves the city was willing to put their money where their mouth is in terms of being a sports attraction.

Perfect Locale To Accomodate Big Events

Beyond the Golden Knights and Raiders, Las Vegas is also home to several once-a-year sporting events. Think of the NBA Summer League or NCAA conference tournaments like the PAC-12 or Mountain West.

Why’s that? Welp, obviously, the city is tailor-made to host travelers in one area. Of course, Las Vegas casino and hotels have the rooms — both for sleep and conferences — and amenities to do so. But second, who doesn’t want to travel to Vegas for a weekend sporting event? It’s an easy sell for event organizers.

It’s Vegas After All

Piggybacking off our last comment, Las Vegas sells itself. The city’s population is growing. It attracts tourists from all over the world. People want to be there and it only makes sense for sports to capitalize off that energy.

From a pro athlete side, the state of Nevada also has no state income taxes. Just like pros flock to Florida for the same reason and sunny weather, we imagine Las Vegas will soon be mentioned in the same breath. The sports scene inside the city still has a long runway to go — just tell the NBA to move the Memphis franchise here already!
